Honest Job ... Please!

It was not quite late when my friends and I went home from a mall. roll eyes

We shared a taxi and as my house was nearer, I would got off from the taxi first. We were near the red light in busy street when my friends screamed. They pointed the car in front of our taxi. uh oh

It was a harrier and there were 2 men plucked its rearview mirrors, both sides. No one got out from their cars to help. Even our taxi driver. shock

It happened so fast, and I could see those two robbers from my taxi’s window, grinning and running away after they got the harrier’s rearview mirrors. scold

I know the car must be insured, but still the car owner has to pay some amount to replace the stolen mirrors. Why those men didn’t get honest jobs? sigh

Hi Mizzy ,As a London Bus driver I see a lot of this kind of thing,,,you said "why did,nt the taxi driver help" I say because it was not his job,,his job is to drive a taxi not uphold the law,his reponsebilty is to his pasengers and his family ,not the other people in trouble,,,in my job we operate the same system,I cannot help either,, its against company policy, now you say what about helping a stranger in distress, you can help, after yourself and then passengers, strangers last...Now you ask "Why those men didn’t get honest jobs?"
As they see it there job is thieving,,right or wrong that is the way they look after there families or more likely buy drugs...Sorry to break it to you ,but that is the way of the modern world,,,right or wrong thats how it is...
I've always wondered that about thieves. Why have a life designed to hurt people? I can only say this: It's because they are lazy and stupid!

Yeppers, police always say observe and report. Do nothing to put your life in danger!

Hi lipsee,

I know it's not any people's job to assist someone who is in distress. But actually it's our culture here to help someone else. It's really sad to see that our culture has been less and less nowadays. We become individual. sigh

It's a modern world, indeed. But it should not make people "in grey area" in doing right or wrong. I guess those who are lazy and are not keen in hard working, choose the easy way to get easy money. moping

I agree with you, Ed. About people getting lazy. handshake

The policemen here mostly don't pay attention with this kind of small robbery. Maybe because it happens a lot everyday dunno
"""I know it's not any people's job to assist someone who is in distress. But actually it's our culture here to help someone else. It's really sad to see that our culture has been less and less nowadays. We become individual."""" My culture is the same..I agree with what you say,,but in practice I cannot operate like that,,I would leave myself open to all kinds of legal (and not so legal) trouble..As a bus driver I work on the streets all the time and see lots of bad things,I help when I can,but also when it suits ME.. If I seem selfish, thats because I am!!! if your taxi driver had got out his cab,,most likely ,at best he would have got a beating,at worsed maybe knifed,,,nobody would have helped him,,sorry to say but that includes the passengers of the cab,,its a hard world out there ,,and it was only a couple of mirrors....Always "Think on Before you step in""

Understand your point of view. The caring of others meant not only for my taxi driver but also other drivers and passengers who were around when it happened. There were lots of other cars when it happened. So if everyone cares, they would stand out not as a person but 40 persons. 2 robbers against 40 persons ... who would win? hmmm

Also read an article about people have become more afraid of criminal nowadays. It's so true sad
