How far would you go?
For a date.Who has travelled furthest? Foe a successful or unsuccessful date. We can talk, phone, skype etc but until you look someone face to face you don't know if there is chemistry or not.
I have been on 7 dates in the past 12 months. 1st one was 400 miles away, last one was 200 miles away. Longest was 3 1/2 hour flight. I have enjoyed a and regretted none.
So how far would you travel for a date?

And after all 7 dates still nothing serious? You make me despair!
2nd relationship lasted 4 months - it was serious - but not to be.
3rd was short-lived - a great person, but again, our future lay in different directions.
I have no regrets about any. Travel is a journey worth taking.

Boy66 - But have you?
I joined this site not because I wanted to date. I joined when my relationship was coming to the end and I joined because a friend of mine ( a former British colleague) recommended this site to me for forum and blogs.
I have already had LDR ( long distance relationship) and I know all advantages and disadvantages.
I am sure, rellocation for me is nearly impossible, because I love my job, I love to earn my money and decide about my salary and never live on " husband´s " money and whenever I would move, I would face a lot of trouble to find a similar job for me.
I am not ready to travel hundreds of miles for dating once I am very realistic about opportunities. I am ready to travel just for CS "Come - Together" Events, by the way one will be soon in Glasgow.
Interesting blog
All the best to you!
Long distance relationships.
So what is long? Driving 200 mile = 3.5 hours, or a flight? 3.5 hours will take me to most of Europe.
Language an employment - that is the question though.
I wanted to send you in mail details about possible Event in Glasgow, but my area is blocked.
More information will be on a Forum Thread... and I will write you as well the CS memebers who will organise the Event. Glasgow Events are famous as well Dublin´s ones.
Have a nice evening.
I'd climb all the way up to the bunch!
But I am the fine art in this case
I'm looking forward to meeting you - mail me when ever you wish to see the fine art of Dublin
I need glasses, I read " brunch"
I don't have the finances for airfare but if it was right, and spent enough time getting to know him and he offered to pay I would travel out of country.
It would of course be preferable that he came here first just for the safety factor of meeting a stranger. (This is meant for meeting a man anywhere not just oversease.) You can Skype for a year but you are still strangers til you are face to face.
Assuming I was coming to visit you (or vice versa) I would expect to just book into a hotel. I have no problem with what you say - just curious.
One of my more recent dates we both drove nearly 100 miles.

I don't think I would make a long trip for just a date, but if I were going to a specific area and the "friend" lived nearby I would certainly ask her out!
A man holds open a door for a lady.
She gives him a scathing look and say "you don't have to hold the door for me because I'm a woman!"
The man says "I'm holding it open because I'm a gentleman"
I fully agree with you. And, I have the womans peace of mind about meeting a stranger at the forefront of my thinking. So I have no problem travelling and booking in somewhere. As someone said above part holiday - part date.
Meet for lunch and take it from there.
