How far would you go?

For a date.

Who has travelled furthest? Foe a successful or unsuccessful date. We can talk, phone, skype etc but until you look someone face to face you don't know if there is chemistry or not.

I have been on 7 dates in the past 12 months. 1st one was 400 miles away, last one was 200 miles away. Longest was 3 1/2 hour flight. I have enjoyed a and regretted none.

So how far would you travel for a date?

WOW,you have been busy wow any luck confused
I have drove 10 hrs it was fun and an adventure, I had a good time but, I have learned the other person needs to invest themself also if it is to easy for them they aren't as interested.
Hi @zandaar!
And after all 7 dates still nothing serious?blues You make me despair!crying
firaslion - 1st date I went on we knew we had no future - we wanted different things. We still went on a holiday for a week and had a great time.

2nd relationship lasted 4 months - it was serious - but not to be.

3rd was short-lived - a great person, but again, our future lay in different directions.

I have no regrets about any. Travel is a journey worth taking.

If she worth it, two rounds of the earth.love
spdspd - don't despair. I don't. wave
explorer6 - you know the adventure then..... And I hope it hasn't put you off.

Boy66 - But have you?
Zandaar,

I joined this site not because I wanted to date. I joined when my relationship was coming to the end and I joined because a friend of mine ( a former British colleague) recommended this site to me for forum and blogs.

I have already had LDR ( long distance relationship) and I know all advantages and disadvantages.
I am sure, rellocation for me is nearly impossible, because I love my job, I love to earn my money and decide about my salary and never live on " husband´s " money and whenever I would move, I would face a lot of trouble to find a similar job for me.

I am not ready to travel hundreds of miles for dating once I am very realistic about opportunities. I am ready to travel just for CS "Come - Together" Events, by the way one will be soon in Glasgow.

Interesting blog thumbs up
All the best to you! good luck
sorry BOY67 - memory isn't what it once was.
I have been on a few to China,,part dates part holidays and had a great time,, Like you Mr hawk I,v had close shaves ,live ins ,and a few never agains.Variety is the spice of life,do,nt you know,,Would I do it again,,,Certainly!!!!
aswina - let me know about Glasgow - you coming? Love to meet you.
I don't have an issue with that because i flight often and long distances like 24 hours flights, i will in May.
Thats a blog in itself.

Long distance relationships.

So what is long? Driving 200 mile = 3.5 hours, or a flight? 3.5 hours will take me to most of Europe.

Language an employment - that is the question though.
If you are really interested in that person you can arrange your work or your vacations with your appointment so if it doesn't work you don't waste time and money.
Zandaar,
I wanted to send you in mail details about possible Event in Glasgow, but my area is blocked.
More information will be on a Forum Thread... and I will write you as well the CS memebers who will organise the Event. Glasgow Events are famous as well Dublin´s ones.
Have a nice evening.
Aswina - when you come to the Dublin ones - I would love to meet you - we could chat about fine art hug
we will go to the end of the earth for the one we love and climb that mountain , and fight off all who get in our way , and jump over buildings with a single bound and race faster than a speeding train

banana cheering cheering cheering peace teddybear
Very true virgo - but is love real before you have met for the first time?
Zanda, sometimes you have to look at the culture before deciding. Some cultures worth it especially for men over 40 who are used to the old fashion marriages.
well it hurts just the same as in real life , when we break-up

teddybear
If I was starving and hungry enough...
I'd climb all the way up to the bunch!
I am no wonder woman just a normal woman but there is no limits of what I would do for the man who wins my heart and there is not much I have found that I can't do.
Aswina - classical music is fine art - I learnt that when I studied Art for my leaving.

But I am the fine art in this case laugh

I'm looking forward to meeting you - mail me when ever you wish to see the fine art of Dublin cool kiss
Sur - laugh laugh rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

I need glasses, I read " brunch" angel
Read my blog, about my experience on travelling 8 hrs away for a date I met on here.
I don't have a car but if I can take a train to a destination within a few hours I'm not opposed to doing that to meet someone if we have made a strong connection. I was seeing someone a bit over 2 hours away and took the train up to see him.

I don't have the finances for airfare but if it was right, and spent enough time getting to know him and he offered to pay I would travel out of country.

It would of course be preferable that he came here first just for the safety factor of meeting a stranger. (This is meant for meeting a man anywhere not just oversease.) You can Skype for a year but you are still strangers til you are face to face.
not very far .
wow 2 Men got a Reply!!!doh
For a first date the man should travel to me. And it has been like this so far wave
Jana. Interesting comment. In this day and age of equality why should you expect that?

Assuming I was coming to visit you (or vice versa) I would expect to just book into a hotel. I have no problem with what you say - just curious.

One of my more recent dates we both drove nearly 100 miles.

saddestangel7 good call.professor
It was probably about 10 miles. It was ok but nothing to write home about. She didn't look like her profile shot, but that was ok because we weren't getting married or anything like that.

I don't think I would make a long trip for just a date, but if I were going to a specific area and the "friend" lived nearby I would certainly ask her out!
Zandaar, it s a question of (my) safety. And of gentlemanhood. Also, I have never been for a total equality regarding genders. I am a woman, not a man or something emancipated laugh
Jana

A man holds open a door for a lady.

She gives him a scathing look and say "you don't have to hold the door for me because I'm a woman!"

The man says "I'm holding it open because I'm a gentleman"

I fully agree with you. And, I have the womans peace of mind about meeting a stranger at the forefront of my thinking. So I have no problem travelling and booking in somewhere. As someone said above part holiday - part date.

Meet for lunch and take it from there.
