Blue Eyes
A couple of days ago I posted another weekly photoalbumon another site.
This one contains 141 photos all taken by me
during the last week of the year (2011).
This CS site isn't set-up to show
anything close to that number of photos.
Indeed, the blog rules state,
that only one image per blog is permitted.
Thus, here is one from that photoalbum for you
to see.
This is a close-up of an adult ibis.
These birds are protected in Florida now.
Many moons ago, they were hunted by the
Native Americans in the area, as a food source.
I guess they taste like chicken.
But, I've never tasted one.
There are about 30 different species of
ibis worldwide, that vary in size and coloration.
In Florida the adults are white with black tipped wings,
while the immature birds are brown.
As the birds get older, they get more & more white.
They have pretty blue eyes and that was one
of the main reasons for taking a close-up.
Here it is. Enjoy !

i love the color of their eyes,,it looks like a very clear water of the ocean...another good pics from you,,thanks for sharing..hope to see more
But I like Ibis! Thanks!!
it makes some sense that they taste like duck.
P - because they are now protected in Florida,
their population has rebounded dramatically
and they are now very common here too.
It seems that they are present at just about every park.
They like to flock together, the young & older birds.
In my neighborhood in Florida
there is one flock that goes from lawn to lawn
looking for insects.
They visit daily about the same time.
Very clear pic Jim.
Well you always provide
the very best.
Well done again.
Thanks.
O - I think you need to adjust the color settings on
your computer monitor. That bird is white, not blonde.
Perhaps it used too much bleach
