Fly like an eagle..
Almost a month ago,I posted a composite photoalbum
on another site.
That photoalbum contains
the top 121 photos that I
photographed during 2011.
I sell these photos to nature and wildlife magazines
and also privately to individuals.
Indeed, some people on this site have purchased some.
For individuals I only charge them $20 US, plus exact shipping
to wherever in the world you are for 8" x 10"
original high quality color prints.
I'll NEVER get rich off of that.
BUT, magazines pay a LOT more, especially when my
photo graces the cover of the magazine.
Bald eagles are one of my more favorite
subjects in the wild.
People I talk to tell me,
that they will always remember
the first time they see one fly.
For many of them, the occurrence almost has a spiritual significance.
The adult raptors have a 6 foot wingspan and a very sharp beak & talons,
that can shred meat or fish almost effortlessly.
They seem elegant, fierce and very impressive.
I've seen them swoop down and grab fish, rabbits, groundhogs
and snakes without landing,
nor even letting the prey realize they're about to be struck.
Indeed, I've had one fly 3 feet over my head one time.
Thankfully, it wasn't after me, but it did approach me from the
backside.
If I WAS prey, I would have been a goner,
as I didn't hear any sound of the approaching eagle.
I only saw the back of the bird as it flew in front of me.
I've also seen eagles toss prey to one another mid-air.
Apparently, their parents never instructed them not to play
with their food.
Here are a couple of photos of bald eagles from
my 2011 favorites photoalbum. Enjoy !
please click on the photos to see the whole photo
and better bring them in focus.

I love it...
No!! I want a 50 pound Lamb!!!
Nice Jim!!
P - a 50 lb lamb might be a bit much to fly off with.
But a 15 or 20 lb fish or groundhog is no problem at all.
In the USA especially when the lakes are frozen,
eagles will feed off of the deer who do not survive.
They will scavenge, when hunting is difficult.
But, they are not flying off with an adult deer.
Then, I WOULD be very afraid !
It would be like a pterodactyl.
Good job Jim.nice photo`s
Nice photos!
The wing span must be pretty wide.
Beautiful creature...
