Guitar Hero....

I like Guitar Hero as much as the next guy. I mean, it's fun and all, and I'm pretty good at it (able to play most songs on Hard and a few on Expert.) Shoot, I'm even looking forward to the next installment (I think it's called "World Tour"...and it features songs by Van Halen, Linkin Park, and Sublime, among others.)
However, that being said, it's not something I would like to do every day.
Or attempt to make a living with.
Apparently though, there is somebody who is doing just that.
I just read about a fella named Blake Peebles (classic name if I ever saw one, haha.) At sixteen, his parents let him drop out of high school to pursue playing Guitar Hero......

Yes, you read that right......

....he dropped out of high school.....to play a video game.....

.....

and his parents LET him!!!!

...

..

.

Now, when I was sixteen, I will admit that part of me thought that something like this would sound AWESOME.....make a living playing video games? Sweet! (by the way, apparently he gets cash and prizes from competitions...yes....there are Guitar Hero competitions.) Of course..that part of me would be b*tch slapped by Mr. Pragmatism..who would see college (and the real world) not two years away, and say that my dreams of faux-rockstardom would have to wait....of course, Mr. Pragmatism tends to be underdeveloped in most people that age.
Hmmm....if only there were somebody there who could (hopefully) guide youths to making the right decisions? People who could make a minor stay in school and pursue their studies, and try to steer them from stupid, short sighted decisions....
...oh
...right.
...they're called parents......
.....guess somebody dropped the ball here. Oh, and did I mention that the parents basically did it because they got sick of the kid whining that he thought school was a waste of time?

Yeah.

Well, good luck Mr. Blake Peebles *snicker*
Hopefully the whole faux-rockstar thing works out for ya.
