bruised but unbroken

It was inevitable I suppose. Walk around with half a body for six months and falling is a major possibility.

my sister said i did not really fall down the stairs, it was more as if I was catapulted into forward flight, what would have been a really cool swan dive if there had been a pool. She said i didn't make a sound, just flew and splatted onto the gravel then lay there without moving for a few moments.

I remember realising I was falling and there was nothing else to do but fall and land. I landed on my face thinking oh shit, this gravel is huge....then i was saying i'm ok i just need to sit quieytly for a minute.

there is a lot to be said for falling when half your body has no response to nerve instructions. You do not tense up as you fall so you do not break anything although there was a moment when i was sure i had dislocated my shoulder! Anyway the xrays were clear, no breaks in face arm or shoulder, no dislocation just an almighty jolt to the soft tissues and the rest of the body.

Actually I think it was worse for my sister who was behind me on the steps and saw my maiden flight in all its fatal potential than it was for me - I simply 'fall down, go splat!' losing a few inches of skin om my cheekbone, she saw her sister going headlong into hard surfaces not truly compatible with skin and bones.

Today I find I do not feel like moving much so I won't and I am going to take the painkillers and avoid all unnecessary suffering.

I am incredibly blessed and grateful not to have been really hurt, my life right now is an inextricable blend of miracles and horror, but there are more miracles than the other so I am a very lucky woman.

jeez, it was scary though!

Oh no, that's not very good. You falling down the steps comfort

But, as you say, it could have been a lot worse if you'd broken or fractured something. So, every cloud has a silver lining thumbs up and at least you managed to look all graceful when you accidently practised your diving techniques.

I've fallen down the stairs a few times, usually when I've been half asleep and it's been dark mornings... Nothing graceful about my falls though. I just miss the step and end up going down all the steps on my @r$e uh oh noisy it was too.. rolling on the floor laughing The thud's somehow echoed all through the row of houses and everyone thought it was an earthquake at 5am laugh

Anyway, take things as easy as possible and be extra careful so as not to fall again hug wave
it is nice to know you were not injured more seriously, but for losing a few layers of skin, but the one thing I know you gained is, you will not be practicing your swam dives for your sister again, less there is of course a pool, and even then, maybe our bodies have retired from those kind of activities.
rest, and get well soon

No stairs for you for a month! rolling on the floor laughing
Blimey Dorielle!... poor you.. and MORE poor your sister :o( That must have frightened her soo much.

As usual you have such a way with words..

that was bloody hilarious.. In a slightly twisted way.

I'm so glad you are 'ok' tho.. kiss hug
Dorielle,

Do your sister and your good friends here a big favour and save the swan dives for the pool. Your face looks good, gravel doesn't really improve it!

OMG, Dorielle!! Don't know whether I should laugh or cry! laugh crying Because this is funny in a "painful" sort of way; but then again, it is NOT funny as well!

Indeed: take those pain pills! (As well as anything you can to reduce inflammation!)

Now, am I going to have to come down there to make sure you don't get more banged up? (I've plenty of practice, you know, from keeping Don out of trouble!! rolling on the floor laughing )

Seriously, lady, please be careful and take better care of yourself than this!

Love & prayers,

J & Dkiss kiss comfort hug hug
