OMG ! Tragic !

Sunday in Lake County Florida
deputies of the sheriff's department were looking
for a man involved in a violent crime.

But, unfortunately, they knocked on the wrong door
and they did not announce who they were.
They got the wrong address.
The man who answered that door was holding a gun pointed in
their direction.

The deputies opened fire and killed the man. sad flower

The fact is, when you point a gun at a police officer, you can guarantee that you will be shot. Someone may have been looking for him. If this guy answered the door with a gun in his hand it is my opinion that he was worried the person who is looking for him might be on the other side of the door. I look out the window to see who is on the other side. I don't answer the door with a gun in my hand.
Certainly, there were errors in judgement on both sides of that door.

Fear of the unknown is one of the greatest fears for some people.
Perhaps the neighborhood he lives in is a bit rougher than High Point. dunno
Ah Jimmy mee boy.....why do you always try to turn it around...dunno
I'm trying to open a mind, not turn anything around.
I stated that there were errors on BOTH sides of the door. peace
Of course for those who can't,see the posts, who knows?

I am giving up on blogs with a link, links don't work 75% of,the time on my poor droid system.
I understand Jim that you might be thinking my response was based on the area I live in but that's not what I based my response on. I thought it was common knowledge that you never point a gun at a cop unless you want to kill him. Cops are on edge because they aren't liked or respected unless there is one in the family.
I agree that pointing a gun at a deputy is an error, a grave one.
Again, I said there were errors on BOTH sides.
Something seems off here. I bet there is more to the story...dunno
There's usually more.
But, what else are YOU expecting to come out later about this ?

Typical Us cop behaviour, as a hunter we are taught the number one rule is to identifiy your target before you pull the trigger. Now the man is dead, we will only ever hear the polices side of the story. He could have been cleaning his gun at the time, it could have been a toy gun, who knows. The cops were amped up to shoot the person they were looking for, so no matter what that man had in his hand they were going to shoot him anyway (or worst case, they planted the gun on him). I've yet to see a cop done for murder, they almost always walk away with a slap on the wrist and in extreem cases lose their job...wow, it just pathtic. Gone are the days when one can feel safe in their own home... wave

Next time you answer the door and your busy in the kicthen making a coffee or something see if you put down the object in your hand down or carry the object to answer the door. More than likely you'll forget it there and start gestering with your hands as if the object wasn't there.
