Hi Pedro..wave
I don't smoke. But I have asked similar question long ago. Here are some of the interesting answers:

- The folly of youth
- I wanted to look cool
- They were cheap and it was a cool thing to do to be accepted
as one of the crowd
- Curiosity
- I was just as Cool as my Canadian buddies
- I was just trying to be more like the kids I admired
and thought were cool.
- My parents smoked and so did we.

Have a nice day!

I started it when i was 11yo , always hide when i did it grin i dont remember exactly when did i stoped , but i made it cos at the time i realize that its a bad habit and killing me softly peace
Me smoking???

lies,all lies...grin
i never forced myself to smoke.. I just started and enjoyed every moment of it. And i will keep smoking as long as i live.
it helps me to be relaxed, to be more creative, to enjoy resting.
Living without my cigs would put my stresslevel straight to the roof so thats not healthy either. And for those of you who don't smoke... Its not like you have the garantee that you become older then me, so whats the point of quiting?? it will do more harm then good. ( and that is also scientific proven if you have been smoking a long time)
maryb, please, have you heard of Alan Carr? He can be helpful to you I think. He helped me to turn around my brain and think different, so I am today a free non smoker! And I am so proud of myselfcheering
I bought this guy's book and I read what he said over and over again until I got his message and I understood that we in deed are brainwashed to think we do well and even better with the smoke. But that is not the truth. I have never felt better after I stopped smoking. And I got sick, cause I stopped to late, so I have problems breathing now and I have KOLS. That is really scary. And I am a person who love to be outside in nature taking walks, and now my breath is trying to keep me form taking my walks. I was to see a lung doctor in August and he told me the bad news, but then again he gave me some good ones. My KOLS would not get worse, and I am so greatful. But it is hard to get up in the morning without getting to breath proper. To walk a stair is like I've run for mils. My breath are do heavy aoll the time. This is for sure something to think about when you are a smoker. Be careful and do not let it go on until you get KOLS. I do not want for my worst enemy to get KOLS, it is had to live with it. uh oh
"B4 they do harm???"

Sorry, but damage has already been done. Experts tell us that for every cigarette you smoke, that's 7 minutes off your life. Let's say you're a 3-pack a day smoker. You've smoked 15 years. That's 328,500 cigarettes. That means you've lost 4 years and 4.5 months out of your life, just because of smoking. And, if you include the cost of the cigarettes, the cost over 15 years is enormous.
My ex lost her dad at 56 and her mom at 52, both from smoking. One was right around my ex's birthday, and the other was about Christmas time. What a bummer! She then got shuffled off to her aunt and uncle, to be raised by them.
@Welela, thank you for posting about Alan Carr's book about how to stop smoking. I've never heard of him, but am going to search for a copy of his book. Sounds like the kind of help that I need. thumbs up
