McCain's Concession speech
I was very touched by McCain's concession speech. It was excellent. Unfortunately, the Republican crowd in AZ did not behave all that well. Regardless, McCain gave an excellent speech. Indeed, if he had showed more of that side of him, this election might have been totally different.Instead, McCain and his party chose the low road and tried to spread lies about Obama trying to discredit him. That worked with some staunch Republicans who would vote for him no matter what. However, it did not work with the large number of new voters, who are internet savvy and digested a large amount of information that revealed the truth. His largely negative campaign also turned off voters who might have voted for him, if he took a positive stance instead.
Regardless, it was inspiring to see him take the high road after it became obvious that he had lost the election. I too hope we can heal as a nation, accept that the country has spoken loudly, and look to the future for change for the better. Certainly, it will be refreshing to have a very smart man in the White House versus who is there now.
Congratulations to Obama and to America for proving than any person can become the leader of this great nation. I feel we as a nation have taken a giant step forward towards a genuine shift in attitude for a kinder, more productive and more responsible nation. I have hope that together with a Democratic Congress real progress will be made by the presidency starting in January.
