I'm thankful for...
All the parents who have food to feed their children.Everyone who has a warm, comfortable place to sleep.
Every home where everyone feels safe.
Each minute of peace in places where peace is a daily struggle.
People of faith, whose religion guides them towards greater good.
Prosperity that grows over time and reduces the harshness of life for so many.
My friends on CS.
Does your country have a national day of thankfulness? Canada celebrates a day like this in October. In the US, tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. That's what my calendar says.
I'm thankful for the good in the world and hopeful that it will continue to spread.

thats just tradition thing , the important thing is we have to be grateful for all we've done. not only in one day , but should be everyday
We have a similar holiday but not as big one as yours. I have read that Thanksgiving is connected with the Protestant tradition combined with gathering the fall harvest. So it was initially in October as it is in Canada now.
Thank you to be one of my very special friends here and for your great contribution to the blogs!
Enjoy it!
I`m thankful for so many things.....and for live as general.
Every day, evry time when I remember I thanks to God for all what I have.
As example yesterday and before yesterday here we had a gorgeous Rainbow in the sky..........such a beauty
Is this not another one reason to be greatfull to God for a Rainbow which warmed our hearts........
Love and peace to all!
It would be a great thing if families spend time together rather than rush through their meal to get out for the Thanksgiving Day early "Black Friday" sales to shop for Christmas. I hope that the retailers desire to make money doesn't replace the spirit of Thanksgiving.
Have a wonderful one Richard
Our nephew (we are Hispanic) and his Filipino wife will cook a traditional Filipino meal for us. Then next week we will have a turkey with all the goodies.
Yeppers, whoever does whatever! Have a good one!
I forget the details but Ariel's comment is on target. I believe it became a national holiday here back in the 1860's or 1870's. Some of the good will the holiday should bring gets squandered on trivial matters (like the big shopping holiday that the day after Thanksgiving has become).
Other than Christmas, does Norway have other "get together with family" holidays during the Winter months?
How many hours from sunrise to sunset in Indo these days? As the number of hours with daylight here has shrunk (it's already dark when most get out of work at 5 pm). I'm already looking forward to the end of December when daylight hours begin to grow again!
The Tumpeng looks amazing! Thank you for sharing some of your culture/traditions.
We should be grateful every day ... for every day. Definitely.
It's good to learn that a day of "giving thanks" is celebrated on the same day in Honduras.
May your day be full of good humor and happiness.

That's my thanksgiving and see how things go when we all love one another. Problems solved! Love distributed!
Great blog, Richard!
Thanksgiving Day here is a holiday from work for most people, a reason to send greeting cards to friends and relatives, and an excuse for over-eating at the family feast.
Efforts are made to prepare special meals at hospitals and nursing homes as well as for the poor and the homeless. There are other organized humanitarian efforts as well. It's just for the day but it gives the day the proper meaning. To be thankful... and to share the harvest with everyone.
Protestant tradition... yes. Protestant religions have played a significant role in our history.
You are indeed one of my special friends here.
The journey of friendship could be a good blog as well! (ideas for blogging are everywhere )
Giving thanks to God for life and its experiences... and a rainbow in the sky.
Love and peace... good words, SPD.
A family holiday when parents have been divorced offers a special challenge, doesn't it? It's definitely less fun when the day has to be split/shared. Hopefully the kids understand.
I wonder if shopping excitement is universal or just something that happens here (in the US). I don't like the holiday being turned into another commercial event. Perhaps finding the right product for the right price should be exciting but stores opening up earlier each year in order to get the edge on each other seems silly to me. Of course, they only do it because it's profitable... so as long as people will line up for the sales/specials, there isn't a limit I suppose.
I remember when the only stores open on Sundays were grocery stores and gas stations. Now, every day is a shopping day.
Hope your day is enjoyable.
Thank you for sharing a holiday greeting!
Tomorrow should be a good day... a holiday meal and a quiet day at home. Several people are getting together at my sister's home but that's a bit too far to travel for the day (about 2-1/2 hrs each way by car).
Thank you for the good wishes!
It's not a patriotic holiday and it's not a religious holiday ... it's simply a family and 'giving' holiday in my opinion.
Perhaps it should be the day I think about writing a check to a charity. Perhaps that should be my tradition. Some sort of charity work... charitable contribution... that would seem like a good way to use the day. I'll have to think more about this but this sounds appealing to me.
Giving thanks to God everyday... and a Filipino meal tomorrow... sounds nice.
Are you familiar with this hymn? It came to mind earlier today... took a while to find a recording I liked. Many sing it far too slowly for my liking. Willie Nelson does a respectable job with "In The Garden".
Some mixture of humor, sincerity, and a touch of sarcasm perhaps (?)
"All creatures great and small on CS" ??? something like that...
Thanks for lending us your thoughts... and giving us a reason to smile.
It's nice to meet you.
Good news for your friend. Thank you for sharing! (I'll go look for your blog)
Being thankful for the small things in life... the simple things that help us get through the day... nice thoughts.
Thank you for visiting my blog and for your good wishes to all.
Have a "Happy Thanksgiving" Richard! God bless!
Happy Thanksgiving Day, Rich
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well, my friend.
