War on Women

From 2000 to 2006, a total of seven years

2,697 American soldiers

were killed by hostile forces.

Americans cried a river of grieving tears.

726 died there accidentally

in "non-hostile" incidents.

We lost many more in another war we fear.

At home, including the 72 killed on 9/11,

611 American law enforcement officers

were "killed feloniously"

in the cause and line of duty.

Only those reported on the list are clear.

554 officers died on the job

accidentally,

of heart attacks,

shootings,

suicide,

and

"non-hostile",

incidentally.

What are the numbers of the war we mirror?

Total of 4,588

Of front-line military

and deaths of law enforcement.

There is another war.

undeclared by any institution

of our fine government.

More than

8,000 women,

were shot,

stabbed,

strangled

or beaten to death

by the intimate males

in their lives.

When will we mourn their deaths in arrears?

We pay tribute as a nation

With Television,

Newspapers

As it is our obligation.

The dead law enforcement officers

and of war in ceremonies we honor.

These women do not receive the same respect it appears.

Ignored by the media, over and over again.

They are treated with contempt and disdain.

They are not labeled heroes, nor are they honored

Public or private formal ceremonies are not sponsored.

Why is it no one cares or wants to hear?

Those are only the deaths. In the same period;

24,000 U.S. Military were wounded in action.

5.3 million were domestic abuse estimations

5,300,000.

More than 300,000 women and children seek safety in shelters each year.

Wars usually produce refugee camps in large numbers:

witness the United Nations around the world as they scatter.

This War on Women is no exception in the form of the 2,500 or so shelters

across North America as women and their children who are battered.

The psyche and soul of woman, domestic abuse indefinitely sears.

When will we as a people stop the burning tears?

Inorder for views to change, the population needs to change. And the media could be a little more empathetic, and less story hungry.
The numbers are big but the life of one man or one woman is enough. We don't want to loose any.
At this point of commentary several people have read this and only one voice!
We need to end this and make it a better place. How to do it?
Where ever we are we need to talk about it.
This is just one of the starting points.
Thank you dragonblue for your awareness.
