Emergency Rations for my mum!

Phew! Have just finished making mum's home made Mother's Day present! I love my mum to bits, but she is in a nursing home 500 miles away, so I have to send her presents through the post. Sent a big scrapbook and glue about a year ago, and ever since then have been saving cuttings out of the paper, magazines etc for her to glue into it. Always print off loads of photos and funny things that friends have sent via e-mail. My printer doesn't print it's colours properly so it takes an age getting them to print out correctly! roll eyes doh laugh

Also in her parcel this year:

- a special "speaker-phone" that she can put right next to her chair and press one button to get through to me! gift

- my bible that I got when I was 22 years old

- a book all about the rural Post-Buses in Scotland (trust me, it's more interesting than it sounds! - we used to use them during our adventures when she used to come and visit me in far flung places!)

- Nairns Stem Ginger Oatcakes peace

- Mini bags of Maltesers dancing

- Lindt Lindor Chocolates yay

- Curly Wurlies applause

- a packet of those old fashioned crisps with the separate salt packet thumbs up

- a packet of Popcorn popcorn

- a half-home-made card

....and a lot of love! purple heart

Blessed Mom!

Equally blessed daughter!!
laugh Thanks

We have always been used to getting unconventional presents. I was travelling/working in different places for years (some of them pretty remote), and back then, mum was the one sending me Emergency Rations! ... chocolates and red liquorice mainly! popcorn laugh
I passed by and I saw record. Kakk we treat the parents, our children and people around also will treat us in old age.

Hi, question: " special "speaker-phone" that she can put right next to her chair and press one button to get through to me!" My friend is also in a nursing home and I would like to know, where to get one of those phones and how they work. Do I need a normal SIM card and just put some money on it? I really do appreciate your explanation. T c
I am sorry your mother is so far away from you. It is a nice thing what you do for her, you seem like a good daughter. I respect that! thumbs up thumbs up
...Yeah, it's horrible being so far away all the time - I do everything I can for her from a distance, but it's nowhere near as good as being there.
