No the idea of a Multiverse would contradict all the rules of hollywood script writing. Then where would we be. Plot holes galore, Take the TV show sliders for instance !
I also read in take a break magazine that, Quantum leap was cancelled because actor Scott Bakula (Sam Beckett) actually disappeared of set and had to to replaced with a very expensive robot from another studio.
Just kidding yes I fully believe in the theory
