Dating a gambler

What would you do if you fell for a guy with a gambling problem? He never has the money to take me out- even for a coffee but can come up with the money to place a bet. When his money is all gone he comes over to my house depressed and what do I do? Encourage him and give him a meal - because he cannot buy his own groceries. He is my best friend until his family comes around and then he refuses to bring me to family functions - gatherings. I know the answer......drop him!! Its a hard one. He said he would go to one GA meeting - he went but that did not last long. His boss pays his car payments and insurance payments for him so he does not loose his car....this really is the pits. TO others: watch for the signs and dont get sucked in!! They can fool you at first - wine and dine and then once you are hooked - comes the truth.
