OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES.......
Over the weekend, (just passed) I sat on my patio (porch) and was watching Matilda (my Dingo) frolicking (playing) in the long grass.I said to myself, “self, best you get the “Victa” (lawn mower/grass cutter) out and mow (cut) the lawn” (grass).
I sat there and thought about what I had just said to myself, mmmmm I thought I should mow the lawn. “One day I’ll get around to it” I answered myself.
About an hour later my eldest daughter came to visit bringing with her my most favorite human alive, My Princess Trinity, (granddaughter) (I actually call her Toodles sometimes, the helper on the Mickey mouse Clubhouse cartoons). The smile she bought upon my face, she is just the most beautiful person I know.
“Toodles” asks me “Papa” (that’s what she calls me, sometimes she says “Simmo”) have you finished building my playhouse yet” Oh O I thought, “sweetheart” I said, “I promise I’ll get around to it and have it ready next weekend for you, is that ok?” “Of course Papa, I know you will” she says with her big bright beautiful blues eyes looking straight at me.
We play with Matilda (see above) for about 15 mins and are having the time of our lives when next my Son turns up unexpectedly.
After the pleasantries, my son asks me, “Old man” (that’s what he calls me, and that’s ok, cause I call him boy….lol) have you gone and got those golf clubs you said you were going to buy yet?” Good Grief, something else I had forgot, “Nah, not yet boy,( see i do call him boy) I’ll do that when I get around to it ok”
So why am I telling (well writing) all this I hear you all ask. (Well I guess you are asking).
Today, the apple of my life, my dearest granddaughter came and visited me again today when I arrived home from work. (She lives less than 500 yards from me).
“Papa, look, look what I have made for you today at playgroup” (did I mention that she is only 3 ½ years old). “Show me princess, what did you make for Papa?”
With that, she handed me a round piece of wood with the word tuit written on it.
“Now papa you have a round tuit”.”you can mow the lawn, finish building my playhouse and go and buy yourself some golf clubs” she continued on.
God bless her, she is just the best.
This is an absolute true story.

Home, sweet home! Lovely words youv'e put again to us! It seems that all your beloved enjoy being around you!
Well maybe my granddaughter does.
The 3 adult children have their own lives.
But i did choose to be very close to my "princess"
If the truth be known,
Out of a marriage that went sour, I can say in all honesty i would do it all over again even if it ended the same way.
I was lucky enough to be granted full time custody of my children all those years ago (20+) and i guess they are now repaying the love i have shown them all their lives.
So indeed i am a very lucky person.
Love is unconditional.
You are too kind.
Thank you.
That is so sweet
I guess you're getting around to it sooner than you thought. No more putting off those impending tasks! Never underestimate the logic of a child
She deserves lots and lots of
What do they say in the movies.
never work with children or animals.
They'll show you up all the time.......
Not for one minute do i believe that my Princess made it.
I am more of the opinion that maybe her mother may have set me up and used my precious little princess.
However, i just loved the way Trinity came running up to me telling me.
if it is possible, i think that both my granddaughter and i spoil each other rotten.
I would mountains to be with her.
And a hello to you to steffffie.........
i'm well thanks, cant complain really. i'm finally getting around to it.
@ steff, someone asked to see my eyes, and thats how i did it
stefff you know my eyes are blue
Tuit reminds me of Opentuit, a CS friend. It took me quite some time to get what her name meant.
I guess in one way or another we could all be opentuit......
Just taking advantage of daylight savings here.
been mowing my lawn. (seeing as i have an official round tuit)
sleepy byes wont be far away though.
I like the way you put words into brakets in this story. It gives the narration a further interesting touch. Terrific writing again..!
I suppose you're sleeping now.
Here is another one for you.
Hope you find it useful and you get your lawn mowed.
I'm glad to hear of your close relationship with your granddaughter..... it's always great reading your blogs!!
I have to be honest ... I had never heard of Tuit before -I looked it up lol
A wonderful blog , which shows once again , especially to those of us who know you best , what a great family man you are Simmo
young children have certainly no inhibitions
Out of the mouth of babes ,,one will hear the truth , and often plenty of orders too lol
As your friends here know so well already ,Trinity is the centre of your world I know how much you enjoy every moment spent with her
Thanks my friend, somehow i think my daughter is behind the round tuit from my granddaughter.
However, i have no excuses now according to my princess.
Thank you and you are too kind.
I like you am here just to share some experinces and hope it brings a smile to others.
I'm not sure if you are a betting man, but put your house on the fact the the "round tuit" my granddaughter presented to me is indeed a prized posession.
It is in the middle of being framed, then to be placed in a prominate postion on my Lounge room wall where all visitors will see it.
You are seriously making me blush.
You are right that "my" Trinity is the centre of not just my world, but my universe.
As grand parents have been known to say, I live my grandkids, but also love that i can hand them back.
Well to be honest, I HATE Handing Trinity back to her mum when the time comes.
I thank you for your kind words, but truthfully i fear that you have put me on a pedestal far greater than i deserve.
I am at the end of the day, a mere male, with many faults, hopefully a couple of good points, But still just a person seeking no glory or praise.
Hope all is well with your family.
