Fighting fire with fire
Fighting fire with fire is such an interesting expression and while most of us know what it means, not all people really know where the expression comes from.If you are trapped in a bushfire and you realize that you cannot escape it, you have to fight that fire with another fire. You simply start another fire; right where you are to create some space for yourself. By the time the main fire gets to you, you have a nice big open space where you can stay out of reach of the flames because you have deprived it of fuel.
Life is like that too. When you are surrounded by a problem, you have to create some space around you to protect yourself while dealing with it.
Sometimes you can use water to fight a fire but sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.
But something else I do not understand…
If you put your hand in a hole on you get bitten; why do you poke your hand back into the hole?
Do some people never learn?
To all my friends - and everybody else - have a great day.

Have a great day my friend!!
Your point is noted. But in my almost 62 years I have learned that sometimes you have to stand up. And then I will forgive afterwards.
Turning the other cheek only work when you deal with somebody with a conscience.
As usual a very valid point. But I shall make sure to pick the right spot.

on my opinion, actually those people knew and have learned thru what had happened before, but since they are too lazy to improve it, nor have felt comfortable with what they have done b4, they tend to pretend nothing doing wrong with those all, they will do it again and again...
those are characteristic of people that do not want to have any improvement on their life... just satisfy with what they have been achieved so far.
never and ever put yourself on such situation, coz it will cause destruction to your own life.
have a great day to you,too my dear friend..
My daughter has to deal with real bullies at school and today she told me that it just doesn't stop, no matter who she turns to at school. I have been to school and complained but its never taken seriously.
So today I told her to fight back but only harder and if she must be unfare,...so be it, however she must not start the fight.
Sy is altyd die stil enetjie, maar nie meer nie.
Have a great day
It is very windy at the fireplace, so they can not lit another fire to try stop it. Firefighters and fire helicopters are fighting the fire now. And the Norwegian army is called out to help. Wish you all a wonderful day and send some thoughts to those who lost their homes will you. Thank you!
Thank you for your support. This when real friends come into play.
Yes, if you ignore a problem it does not go away; it just get bigger. But bullies are easier to handle. you only need to stand up to them and strike first.
Vettel haa waa om hom teskop.
Yes and some will sit down without even reading the sign.
It must be a nightmare fighting fire in Norway; with all the trees and mountains. We have the same problem in our mountains but...
We also have vast open plains of savannah (grass plains) with very little trees. There you can stop a fire in his tracks by making another fire.
Though some time such a fire can also get out of control and then you have more problems for the insurances don't pay out when damage is self inflicted.
Mooi! That will stop him. And then teach her to forgive him afterwards. He may even become her friend.
"The Scorpion and the Frog"
A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the
scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The
frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?" The scorpion
says, "Because if I do, I will die too."
The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream,
the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of
paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown,
but has just enough time to gasp "Why?"
Replies the scorpion: "Its my nature..."
In my opinion, it is not always about being lazy to improve or being mentally behind It is all about individual nature that drives us to do things -which to some includes keep putting hand in the same hole and get bitten
A great story.
Btw. I did a blog on this a short while ago; must have been just before you came on the scene.
When tempted to fight fire with fire, remember the Fire Department usually uses water.Unknown Author.
We are surrounded by sea and mountains here. Cape Town is built against the slope of Table Mountain and the entire peninsula is separated from the inland by mountains.
Sometimes it takes weeks to put a fire out and the damages are staggering. We have fire walls all over the mountains but when the wind is too strong it jumps those firewalls.
Only one careless deed and the cat is amongst the pigeons.
Yes they do but sometimes water is not enough or too dangerous to use. Different fire are fought by different means. Petroleum on fire cannot be put out by water. Just one example.
