Torture and Sufferings, Perpetrators and victims

Let's face it, life is full of mysteries. Full of questions that are so beyond human mind to satisfactorily find an answer. Full of dark elements it is sometimes so impossible to accept and understand. Humanity is beset with imperfections. Our comprehension is so limited and sometimes I call these inhuman acts, the works of the devil. We do things that sometimes challenge our moral and ethical values. Some are mild and some are just horrendous. In example, the Holocaust, Mai Lai Massacres, Slaughters of people from Africa, Genocide from Serbia. Not to mention the many atrocities and brutalities committed against humanity through wars.

This is not the main point of this blog. Rather the examination of conscience and understanding why man can possibly inflict harm and injury to others. So mutilating and so inhuman. The worst part is that these acts are done by unsuspecting, normal people, whom we trust around us and in the end, it is such a difficult process to bring them to justice of their being so sly and so believable in their lies. And, they do everything to claim their innocence making our justice system waste and spend a lot of money, energy and resources just to prove them guilty.

I just watched a movie based on actual events, FROZEN GROUND. It is about the commission of a very heinous crimes involving rape, torture and murder of 24 women. The perpetrator lied for as long as he could to the authorities and it took a great deal of time and money for the authority to prove his case. The worse part is that he led a very religious, very stable job, with family and children, and one would never ever suspect his capacity to commit such an evil act. Eventually he confessed and recovered 11 out of 17 bodies and marks as one of the worst crimes ever recorded in the State of Alaska.

In my state of mind, I can't help but wondering how can man be ever capable in conceiving this act let alone commit them? It was so difficult to witness such a mind boggling and heart wrenching story without truly asking so many questions that is so hard to answer. While I cried so much on the movie, 12 Years a Slave, this movie just made me feel so mad and so hurt for the victims.
