Emotional Energy - Blog 3
The economics of mental health. (Can these words be used together? )Economics is about creating wealth; where prosperity comes from, how it gets passed around, and what can ruin it.
Install a water well in a remote village and you've created economic value by saving the time/labor needed to collect water. Install water filters and there is more value because people will be healthier and more able to work. If you take these things away, the value goes away. If the river also dries up, they've lost even more economic value.

With emotional energy... We talked about how we gain it and how we loose it in Blogs 1 and 2. Now... the economics...
1. Can it be created? Where does it come from?
2. Can it be shared?
3. Can it be destroyed?
4. Can it be preserved and protected?
Comments on the weather and your favorite sports team are also welcome.
I'm up too late and too early (it's 2:30 am) ... but wanted to get this started... and now will try sleep again :)

Yes of course Mental Health can be destroyed. the Media,the powers that be Success is seen mainly as how much you earn, what you drive and where you live... I believe the above will preserve and protect. There is alot of Depression and mental distress amongst the older person over 50s onwards, a sense of isolation due to Divorce, this is not helped by Singles nights out... there needs to be , once again, more Community. I see people here for the past 10year where I live, they walk by, nobody wants to be a neighbour anymore. I know this isnt exactly Einsteins answer but I didnt sleep well and am tired but wanted to contribute. Im sure if I thought long and hard about it... I could come with something better. As it stands, am just trying to get back on my feet emotionally and there arenot many support systems unless you have the money, so its a hard climb. Thanks Richard for the Blog
I think there should be a program, maybe by the Governments or maybe through other Organizations to work on the wellbeing of each person in a society. Maybe such efforts are already done. I could imagine this, as disability of people due to lack of happiness harms the society and causes financial losses in several fields.
I personally would regard it as a human right that a person is happy. But we are still far from getting to such a level of rights. It would need special programs, also steadily asking people what actually makes a person happy. For this reason the statistics ( for which I also sometimes work) which are mostly not popular and not valued by the majority can help a lot here to get the correct answers.
When I phone people in the Institute for Statistics most of them will immidiately reply annoyingly: “ I don’t need anything!” They automatically think that there is only a marketing background within our questionnaires.This lets me think of another point: Does the economic growth in the rich countries make people any happier? We should be able to find out when a person is satisfied.
I guess, sharing emotional energy can only be done when we know what the other person needs in order to be willing to accept it.
There are people who seem to always have an abundance of happy thoughts and positive words. When they walk into a room, most are happy to see them and feel good to be with them.
There are people who seem to always have an abundance of complaints and negative thoughts. When they walk into a room, most feel a bit nervous and unsteady and begin to look for ways to leave.
* Creators and Destroyers.
* Givers and Takers.
* Suppliers and Consumers.
... And ... There is a market for emotional energy! People buy it and sell it... entertainment (TV, movies, plays)... dramatic story lines the push and pull our emotions... they pull them down during dramatic conflict and then giving them back to us when the conflict is resolved!
Btw - your trombone is nice!
A blog about trombones? ... Hmm ...
