Rottie to the Rescue...
One night a family's pet Rottweiler started barking to be let out in the middle of the night. A rather grumpy owner got out of bed and let him out, shutting the door firmly behind him.Snuggling back into bed with his partner, the dog soon started barking outside as well. The man got up, opened the window and told the dog to be quiet.
The dog obediently went quiet, but soon started barking again. Again, the man got out of bed, opened the window and told the dog to shut up.
Drifting off to sleep comfortably snuggled under the quilt, the family were awoken once more by the urgent ringing of the doorbell. Someone wouldn't would not lay off that wretched bell.
The man grouchily goes down stairs tying his dressing gown around himself as he went. It's 3am in the bloody morning. His sleep has been disturbed four times. He opens the door...and finds the Rottweiler standing on his hind legs, leaning on the door bell with his front paws.
At this point the man realises their dog has been trying to tell them something all along: the roof of the house is ablaze. He wakes his family and gets them out safely just before the roof comes crashing down.
Now tell me dogs can't think, can't reason, can't problem solve...and don't have a soul.

Dogs and other animals are very bright...the man...not so much!!...good story!
Because we can think, reason and feel emotions, I reckon we're more than simply the bunch of protons and electrons that we're made up of. There is some kind of gestalt going on, that we're more than the sum of our parts and that's what I think of as a 'soul'.
I suspect that's pretty close to what you're saying, but I also guess other people have other concepts and who is to say who is right, or who is wrong?

Concepts are based on beliefs. Truth is based upon experience. You can have the experience to appreciate "who is right and who is wrong?" As I previously told you.....but you seem to be interested in philosophy than in the truth. Isn't it so?
I had a near death experience once. I got right down to my last slushy, sluggish heart beats. It was a mind blowing experience.

I'm interested in people and their individual truths, unless it causes harm to others. I get narky about harm to others, I admit.

Whatever you said are definitely the facts...but the facts as per your beliefs..no, it is not the life that leaves the body but, on the contrary, body leaves the life by being dead..both the psyche and somatic....in other words the life is released...yes you are right body could be functional only with soul but not vice verse....
I asked if you want to know the truth? or like others..just engrossed in philosophical idiocies...which is nothing else than "mind jugglery" leading nowhere and ending in a fuss..
I only got half way out of my body, I didn't have a view from above.
I really couldn't say if that was my soul, or my consciousness dissociating from my body because it was the only way I could cope with the pain.
Next question: what happens to the soul after the out of body experience and viewing everything from above? I had this sense of oblivion and that my consciousness would have dissipated in some way, had I not survived.
And Zee, that was a good one to lighten things up with. I relate to being informed of emergency moths and terrorising fruit flies.
The eternal truth has no personal allegiance.

How each of views life and death might touch on some very personal an poignant emotions and I'm not sure it's terribly kind to ridicule that.

But I can assuredly say..that was your soul...and if you are ready for some "subjective experimentation"...I bet you can have that experience again and that too vividly...and that would be evolutionary...
