Gender Dysphoria
We read about sex changes all the time and debate the morality of it even more. I’m not talking about corrective surgery when life dealt somebody a bad hand and both organs are present. I’m talking about apparent dead normal people wanting to change their gender. People who had several relationships with the opposite gender.Should such surgery be allowed? And would you marry a person after he/she had a sex change?
But my biggest question is; does the alteration of the external appearance of organs change your gender? What about the internal workings and hormones produced by your body? Can a person really claim to be a man or a woman just based on the altered appearance of their genitals or does it go a bit deeper?
Surely the role you take in s*xual activity does not determine your gender. Is it not the part you play in reproduction that determines your gender?
Gender Dysphoria is a condition where a person experiences discomfort because there appears to be a mismatch between their genitals and gender identity. It is a recognized medical condition and not a mental illness. It is not the same as transvestism or cross-dressing and is not related to s*xual orientation. People with the condition may identify as straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual or asexual, and this may change with treatment.
Have a monster of a day.

I appreciate that. I cannot tell them what do do with their lives, but will you marry a guy that was a woman before.
There's only ONE person I'd go 'un-straight' (is there even such a word?? }
ELLEN de GENERES!!
Otherwise, I'm as straight as you can get.
I prefer my men to be in their original form, never been altered before, if you know what I mean...
Yep...factory standard model. With all original parts!
Hmmm. ..I wonder if we'll ever see the day when personal ads are so worded?
You lost me on that one, dude! I'd need a schematic diagram or flow.sheet to figure out what the #ell that's all about!
Hormone therapy for life.
I think I have read similar topic on someone's blog. Was it yours? Hm..
Anyway, NO, I dont think I will marry a man who used to be a woman.
Now, will you marry a woman who used to be a man?!
I did not mean to implicate you personally. The question is more in general. I will find it hard to make love a woman knowing that she was a man a few years ago. I feel uneasy when a man holds my hand too long after shaking hands with me. I can tolerate physical contact only with my closest friends. You will never find me leaning against another man as some men often do.
You too Miclee?? I mean, you also go for originals only?
Always have! Can't see any reason to do otherwise! (I was going to say "change" or "switch". Thought better of it...given the subject! )
As long as you realize that it is not the natural color of your hair. You cannot claim to have dark hair if it comes of the pharmacy shelve.
A good friend dies his beard to hide the greyness and it has not affected our friendship, even though we mock him about it.
but Catfoot, you didn't answer my question.
This is the problem with the US of A. You guys wake up too late. Here in Africa we have ploughed quite a few acres by this time.
I did answer it in another comment but here it is again for your benefit.
I think this explain my sentiments quite clearly.
This is interesting topic, do you remmember the atlethes females from Eastern Germany, they were the best in every sport. Now we know those women were injected hormones, and not even the Russian knew about it. This was something in secret from Eastern Germans doctors and their olympic directors. Today those women, some are bald, some has beards, without mentioning the health problem they have now. Some of those women managed to marry and have kids, others the damaged was so deep they have female partners beacuse they look like 100% men.
I guess that's what happened if I didnt really "read."
I would not have any doubt that most people who can afford would do it more than the hesitation of not changing it, even for mere experimentation.
I would wish to be involved with one only with natural endowments and sure of who they are, then again, I don't hold my breath on it.
This is a very interesting comment and yes, I remember it very well. It just comes to show that we do not know enough about the human makeup to scratch with things like that. The human body did not become what it is overnight and it is folly to try and fiddle with it.
My biggest problem with the whole thing is that we don't know enough about the inner workings of the human body and the results of hormone tampering in the long run could be disastrous. I believe that doctors should not be allowed to perform such procedures as it creates more problems than cures. Doctors should not be allowed to experiment on humans.
Look at Bung's comment; it is just another example of a human experiment gone awfully wrong.
No problem at all. It was perhaps a good time to repeat my stance on the matter.
I agree 100% with you!
Yes, I will still respect the person; he/she deserves that as anybody else but I will not seek their friendship or affection.
But I do agree with you although, science and its powerful effect in our lives will not end there. And for whoever would want to do it, there is not a law that would sanction it yet.
Now when the errors outnumbers the good ones, perhaps there will be a control imposed by our laws, for right now, it is an open play for anyone, Cat. That is just the way it is.
Progress can't be stopped and these medical fields are by far the gross takers of revenues as a result of these inane and borderline crazy undertakings.
I wouldn't want to see failures, rather I want to exercise options should it benefit man.
I still believe there are areas we dare not touch. And then we did not even address the emotional issues coupled with it.
But then perhaps they can restore it back if they are not happy or experience more hideous feelings as they did this to change their emotional state of confusion in the first place.
I wish we can hear from someone who has done it Cat, then it will definitely enlighten us.
The medical science was intended to cure man of his ailments and diseases, not to change the appearance or genetic makeup of humans.
I don't have a problem with cosmetic surgery as it aims to restore former glory but to replace a well functioning organ or limb with something of another kind is bizarre. Especially if hormones are to be used to maintain the new status.
Things done now may affect unborn generations when the doctors who performed those atrocities are long dead and unaccountable for what they did. Let them stick to healing people and reduce suffering. To change the human constitution blindly is looking for trouble. To experiment on humans not knowing the long term outcomes, I believe, is in contradiction to their oath.
Hope you have a Monster day as well
Yes, It will be great if we could be what we want to be that is not the case here. I do not think the op leave the patient it the condition that he or she wants to be. There always seem to be issues around it.
It does not make you a bird if they remove your arms and attach wings in stead. Even if they can give you hormones to lay eggs, you still remain a human. Nor does it make you an angel; they have arms as well.
I might not have liked you if you were a man.
Hope your Tuesday is good to you.
My days are always good, just a bit short these days. Wish we could fit in another hour or two per day.
Hpe you're having a great day as well.
