The Future of Boxing
What future does Boxing have as a sport? Numerous people have died as a direct result of the punishment received while practicing this sport. Only Bowls have a higher mortality rate than Boxing. That is now since the Christians stopped fighting the lions. And it is not just the visible damage that counts. What about all the damage done to internal organs by all those body punches? And the brain damage from all the hits against the head? No wonder so many boxers get all dilly when they grow older.
It could be argued that if Boxing is banned then other contact sports must be banned as well; there are about as many punches thrown in a Rugby match than in a Boxing bout. But punching is against the rules in Rugby and offenders are punished when spotted. The goal in Rugby is to carry the ball into your opponents’ goal area while the goal in Boxing is to concuss your opponent to the point where he is on back gasping for air.
How long can we still allow this savage sport to go on? I think we have a moral obligation to protect some people against their own stupidity.
Have a great weekend.
I'm running a bit late today. Thankfully the funerals have come to an end now - I hope.

Hmm, old Mike Tyson. But then look at Mohammed Ali. A sad story.
I didn't know till recently after a boxing fight
days after, those fighters when they pee, blood
is coming out too, horible.
Yes, a few South Africans have died withing days after a fight. I wonder what impact it has on the live of the surviving opponent.
Those guys take a lot of punishment and something must go at some stage. Your body is not designed for such punishment.
I was under the impression it was the same thing.
I love this cute little guy though so I am just going to use him a few times.. He`s kinda cute I think. Sometimes I feel like boxing some ears when I hear people being unkind to each other.
Z, I liked your comment about the blogging, sometimes it can get a little heated
I did a bit of boxing when I was still in school. My mom and dad had some differences about it as my father encouraged us to learn to defend ourselves. My mother's recommended strategy of turning the other cheek did not sit well with us.
I stopped during my second last school year.
I cannot help to wonder what kind of people pay a small fortune to sit and watch two men demolishing each other systematically.
Right! Look at the vicious way a guy climbs into his opponent when he realizes that he has him in trouble. Primitive insticts; they bocome animals.
At least we won't be short of sparring partners. Even those knocked out are back on their feet in no time at all.
Yes, Welela, Taekwondo. My youngest son used to do it and he could break a piece of wood in half with his fist.
Sometimes even, when he got angry, he just kicked a chair with his foot and broke it!
I used to do Judo a few years ago, where there is no fighting involved and no blood.
Ju-do meaning "The gentle way", is a self defense sport and not used for attack.
However, it is now part of the olympics and the rules have changed. You can get a point by doing an "arm or leg lock" or even a strangle hold. Obiously, it can have some severe consequences!
I can remember we were all friends more or less. There were no grudges after a fight. We trained together, sparred together and our parents were involved as well. It was nothing funny to see the parents of opponents sitting together and not strange to get a hug from your opponents mother after the fight; win or lose. We were kids and if somebody got a clear advantage over the other, the fight was stopped.
Maybe it is the extreme competitive nature of professional boxing that give the sport a bad image.
Wallops!!! Are you sure you're not into 'boxing' ?!?
Well.....that's not what I've gathered...lately . Sure 'bout that??
Professional Boxing/Wrestling/Mixed Martial Arts and Kickboxing is a combination of all of these deadly matches.
One thing about getting knocked down on blogging is, you can come back immediately.
You're always welcome here.
I learned enough about it to defend myself today.
Maybe that is where the pros go wrong. They forget to blog the blows.
You like my new profile pic? I've yet to introduce her officially, maybe in a week's time
I have never considered boxing a sport, in my book it is plain barbarism. I hate it with a passion
A few years ago there was quite an uproar her when two boxers died in quick succession. If my memory serves me right one of them never recovered from a knock out and died a few hours later.
Approximately 500 boxers have died in the ring or as a result of boxing since the Queensberry Rules were introduced in 1884
It is too small for me to see so I had to violate your profile for a bigger picture. Have you decided on a name yet?
Welcome home. I was just telling another CS friend yesterday that you and Kariena have been MIA or AWOL for a long time. Very pleased to see you again. I hope you have a good explanation for your absence.
A boxed woman? What a novel idea. I wonder if they come cheaper. Boxed wine is cheaper than bottled wine.
Not at all. I just meant to stress the point that it is no sport either. I like steak but I want to know the animal was put out cleanly.
That is the philanthropist in me. I sacrifice my personal taste to get rid of the stuff before it can poison other folks.
