Being Old Fashioned
I used to frown when people said I am conservative. I always saw myself a liberal and free thinking. After all, I pressed my students to explore and investigate the unknown; not to get stagnant. But did I practice what I preached? In a way, yes; I have a very inquiring mind and I always wonder what makes things tick but I seldom adopted what I have acquired in my findings.
I am resistant to change. My old habits die hard. I don’t like changes and I adapt to them slowly. I hang onto the values taught to me as a child, regardless of how the world has changed.
I have not used Windows 95; I stuck to MS-DOS. In fact, I still have a DOS simulator on my machines. When I finally accepted Win98, I stuck to it, bypassing Win ME as well as Win 2000 - when it finally arrived - going straight to XP. Now I’m still stuck with Win XP.
Oh, I looked at all the other platforms but I did not like them. I always had them on another partition and could dual boot with them but I never used it. I did not like them. Just like I don’t like Win Vista, 7 or 8. Now I have acquired Linux but I do not get as far as installing it. I still want to cling to Win XP.
While being conservative can create some stability, it certainly puts you in a groove that is hard to escape from.
Well, the weekend is nearing its end but enjoy the new week.

Ok, the first three paragraphs, I understand very well
However, what happened after that, I have to admit, I have no clue at all
Anyway, I've brought some cakes and coffee for you

It is not always a plus point. Like my prejudice against tattoos. I was brought up that it is bad, even though it was highly in the fashion just before I was born.
I almost croaked when my daughter - then married already - had a tattoo applied on her shoulder.
I don't keep up with the times.
If you are using a computer/Laptop! You is keeping up with the times. No matter what windows you are using or looking out of.

Why is it that virtually everyone connected with computers claims to be talking English but I can't understand a word they say Every industry has it's technical side but I don't know of any other that would try to explain to an "outsider" how it works using only technical "trade" jargon
I guess you are as conservative as I am. I don't like changing when I'm comfortable in my environment. I only accept change when I have to.
Have you ever had an alarm on your house/ ADT System?
Or you just lock your doors only? If Yes! You is keeping up with the times!
Do you eat fresh food? Or you just eat the old food. If yes! You are keeping up with the times.
Do you use face book and sky? If yes! You is keeping up withe times!...
Do you have a flat screen tv. or a box tv? If yes! You is keeping up with the times..
I just made a song. (Keeping up withe times)....
Please stop!! I almost died laughing!!
oops! Sorry.........
Computers were my trade. I was forced to keep up or be unemployed. But if you look at my phone you will understand it better. To me it is a device to talk to somebody not with me at the moment. Nothing fancy and I use none of the other functions. I hardly know what other functions my phone have. I have never accessed internet from my phone. I don't even use the alarm or the timer on there. I still use other gadgets and stuff to do that.
Gadgets is part of the times, hun!................
Having been in the trade all my life I understand computer terms but I agree, some manuals and reviews use a jargon that the uninformed will never understand. Sometimes I think they write those manuals with the purpose to confuse. Technology can be explained in simple English.
Do you use a microwave. Or just use the stove? if Yes! You is keeping up, with us! The times Bob........ yea!
I KNOW that my life would have been different,IF the computer had been available in my youth, as I NOW know what I would have like to pursue as a carrier with the help of the computer
Oh dear, you are confusing sound with speed. Being up to date with the time is not determined by the hardware you use. Far from it. The way you use the hardware is more important than owning it but being in line with the time is much more than that. I just used computers as an example.
And the platform you use on your computer is important as they are not always backwards compatible with older applications while new applications sometimes do not always run on older platforms.
Nope! Not fair. I am talking more then Computers doll! And i gave you examples too!...
Very true. Things are changing all over the world and it is nor always good. As things are going you may soon lose your leprechauns and four-leaved clovers.
The technology is not the confusing matter. Technology is not really a change; I see it as progress and I understand it all. Computers, technology and hardware is not the issue here. It is my mindset that resist the change, like my reluctance to change my convictions. I'm stagnant in my thoughts.
I use all those things but they are not the only things that represent the trends of our times.
No, in my view they appeared at exactly the right time for me.
In the year I was born there were 4 computers in use worldwide. Each of them occupied the area of a soccer field and none of them worked!
When I started working on them they were still big enough for us to walk inside them and I watched them develop into what we have today. I have no problems with computers or other technology and only used computer platforms as an example to demonstrate my mindset.
Everybody seems to understand me wrong. This goes about my reluctance to change and not about using the available technology.
Maybe honeybun, but I'm not. I do not understand how it is that every now and then I write a blog and somehow fail the get the nucleus of the blog over to the readers.
that was a saying i heard many times growing up, sometimes it hits the nail on the head, other times it makes no sense.
I see a past "friend" of yours is keeping up with the blogs, it's a shame his life has stagnated though.
Computers are not my forte, having said that i do now how to turn them on by myself now.
Don't! It is still full of bugs and Win 95 is finally bug free.
If an update is a service then I suppose and upgrade mast be the equivalent to an overhaul. Maybe with some modifications. High lifting cams and a side draft Weber!
That is why it is bothering me. Nobody can afford to get stagnant in their thoughts.
Knowing how to switch your computer on and off is all that is needed. The rest is academical.
See what I mean?
