Yes your coming here joining the bloggers community is a good step.
as a programmer, it is my guess that whatever software they are using needs to have the value set back to 0 on the message counter to fix this issue but it makes no sense why it would only happen to some folks and not everyone.
so no, you are not doing a thing wrong and if you are, then I must be doing the same thing wrong as I am also having the same issue with messages on here
so no answer as to why, only the reassurance that you are not the only one it is happening to :)
