Core-Man & me!!
I call my grandson from Portland Core-man. It's my pet name for him since he was a little boy. Core-man had always been hyper from the time he began to walk to about 11 or so.His father was a professor at San Diego SU and I would drive "down south" to visit them. His mother, my daughter, just always let him be. He wasn't harming anything and she taught him well because he's now a serious and polite young man of 13.
Core-man and I hit it off immediately. We were, and still are, the best of pals. We used to tumble and he would ride my back. And we would just do all this silly stuff "guys" do.
That said I know tell you about a story I just read in a Reminisce magazine. The story about Babe and his young daughter was submitted by his granddaughter, Linda Ruth Tosetti.
Babe Ruth as a young man was very close to his young daughter, Dorothy Ruth Pirone, just like me and Core-man. His daughter rode the Babe's back like Core-man did mine.
I immediately fell in love with this picture. It brought back sweet memories of Core-man screaming and me "bucking" while he was on my back. We were quite a wacky pair and we still are.
Our favorite thing is shooting hoops now when I visit him in Portland. I give him hints and advice and he is turning into quite an athlete.
I love My Core-man!

Have one of them with my oldest niece growing up, but it is hard keeping this going with the distance that is between us.
