Gentleman...

I went on a lunch date on Saturday, although, he would have preferred a dinner date. I don't like driving at night to areas I am not familiar with.

Prior to meeting in person, he said he was a gentleman...his mother raised him right. I was like, great! Well, we met at the parking lot of the restaurant that he suggested; as it was midpoint for both of us. Well, he definitely didn't showed his gentleman ways. He didn't hold the door open to the restaurant...he sat before I did...he ordered before I did. I was like...what happened to the gentleman manners he bragged about? Was he nervous? Did he just forget? Hmmmmm... He said to me, too bad we live so far from each other, you're such a nice lady. Then, he mentions Harpers Ferry, WV...going there in the Spring. Another hmmmmm.... I don't think so.

I agree with GG...a man with old-fashion manners is definitely more appealing to me.

:waving: Hi BC...he probably does not know how gentlemen carry themselves.
Hi Mimi...not from here. We've been communicating for about a month. He's a very nice man...there definitely was no connection.
Glad things came out good for you..teddybear
why do men assume women look for gentlemen confused
there never was and nor will there ever be any such thing professor

Hi dreams wave
but that being said..sometimes its womens faults why some men no longer hold doors open for them.
maybe he meant he was a gentleman in bed, internal within the environment not external rolling on the floor laughing

Hi Itchy...I agree with you...many women would prefer to open doors themselves and what not. So far, this guy has been in the minority. The majority of the dates I've gone on, the men have been true gentlemen. Can't expect all men to be alike.
Good for you dreams wave
men don't have to behave like gentlemen to have good manners..ever go on a date when he sits picking his nose, oh bloody hell talk about being instantly turned off dinner barf

I certainly know how to pick em doh
men that is and not me nose roll eyes
Itchy...yuck!! I bet he thought he was doing everything right...NOT!
Different people have a different meaning for the same word it appears. Maybe he meant by saying 'gentleman' that he wasn't going to make unwelcome passes to you. He shouldn't have to tell you he's a gentleman before he meets you, that should be obvious after he meets you.
I think a lot of people have a different idea what good behaviour is for them.

If you don't like something, just walk away. Too much self praise usually isn't a good thing anyway. wink
Well, at least he didn't get you to push his car out of the snow.

The notion of what constitutes gentlemanly behavior changes with time.

I don't worry so much about things like that but think if it is important to you then you will notice it and will be put off by his behaviour. dunno
There is a difference how we feel about ourselves and how the others see us...I think.
He is not the right one for you and he might be the right one for somebody else.dunno
Good Luck in finding the right onelove hug comfort
