In Russia we get used to celebrate New Year with Father Frost and his granddaughter Snow Maiden, but living here we are getting accustomed to this tradition to celebrate Catholic Christmas ( Ortodox Christmas is on January, 7). As for me, I don't care the name of the holiday - I like its atmosphere of jollity, happiness, and hope for the happy new year... Every year we drive to a big lighting show to the farm in PA, since December,1 we listen to Christmas music, walk around our township looking at neighbours houses' decorations, every year we decorate a big Christmas tree in our house, and surely go to the theatre to see some Christmas performance - all of this make you feel yourself inside Christmas fairy tale like in childhood. When my children were growing up I tried not to break their belief to Father Frost as long as I could: they wrote him letters asking for presents, and on the Eve of the New Year a big bag with presents for them "was left" at our door by Father Frost... Now, having grown up, they keep these warm memories and try to make such "magic" for my granddaughter...
That's what Christmas is about for me.

Have a great time with your family P. hug bouquet
Muscovite lady thanks for the reinforcement about the beauty and excitement of our traditions. I love the fact that their memories are filled with this jolly and joyful traditions.
Who dares take that away from us.

Myself being a Filipino, we too, have so much activities that punctuate our poverty stricken life. In Christmas, nobody is poor or rich. We all gather together and celebrate. Our cooking our native foods, caroling, and simply being together enjoying the spirit. It's so powerful and even people who had differences in the past take this time to lay out forgiveness which is powerful.

I love it and raised all my children in this traditional values.

Thanks.
Angel be ready then, perhaps instead of flying which is almost delayed or canceled most of the time, perhaps drive. AHhhh. Will be so tired by then.
K exactly, what can give us better feelings than Christmas and birthdays? And wedding of course.
