It’s Just A Matter Of Time.
Time waits for nobody, or so they say. This must make time the most precious resource of all. Once squandered, it is lost forever. It cannot be regenerated or recycled like water or money. No Save and Restore, no rewind and no backspace or delete key.And yet, some people use their time so effectively compared to others that it does seem to wait for some people, which brings us to the old question; is time constant or relative? Also, if it is relative, then what is it relative to?
Every century a day gets 1.4 milliseconds longer due to the earth’s rotation slowing down, so at some stage it will stop spinning! Will a day then last into infinity?
Einstein said that gravity slows time. I never understood much of what he said but if I understand this one right, astronauts must age a few nanoseconds faster each day they spend in space. Apparently my interpretation of his relativity theory – that if you pull hard enough on your shoelaces, you can lift yourself up into the air – is not valid.
But to come back to Einstein and his sidekicks, some believe that the expansion of the universe is an illusion created by the slowing of time. If that is true, then eventually time must stop altogether, which will make us immortal. All that bothers me about that is how I am going to get my eggs soft boiled if there is no time to measure it against.
And I can imagine some doctors finding it problematic to determine a patient’s pulse rate but that cannot be much of a problem as all mammals have the same lifespan; about 15 billion heartbeats. Elephants only appear to live longer than mice because their hearts beat much slower.
In 1930, Stalin abolished the weekend to increase productivity and the Soviet Union changed to a six-day week. This went on until 1940 when they reverted to a seven-day week; effectively getting rid of more than five hundred days during those ten years. If Stalin could get rid of a day in each week, why can’t we just abolish time? I’m sure we can find alternative employment for all those watchmakers.
All we really have to hope for is that when time eventually comes to a standstill that it happens on a public holiday so work can be abolished with it.
No, I did not smoke monkey weed and yes, what is left of my hair used to be blond once upon a time, but that does not apply to men.
May the new year give you plenty of time to get your things done.

I never stick to my new year's resolutions, so in 2015 I am going to to drink more than in 2014.
That sounds perfectly logic and and fits in well with my prefered lifestyle. All that is missing is an old pocket watch to wind from time to time.
You have a great new year too
Happy new year!
Yes, we can apply it to all things. Even when the shop has a sale going. The more you spend, the more you save.
I see time as a measurement of life. Non living things like rocks know no time, but rather, the erosion of them are our clocks. Everything is relative to us and our life, our time. Once life stops, we return to the rocks and become the next generation of clocks.
Electricity, or energy, no matter how complex, even like the brain activity, will always exist. Scientist prove this. Matter = Energy, either way the same, never a loss. So even when die. WWe just greatly dismembered I guess.
But nothing matter, when the man inside the woman for the special moment. It is then, when the meaning of life is closest to solved, for the man anyways.
Hey! Me footish....
It sound like you have a great blog, dude.
There is no time in time! Just minutes...,.
Hmm, ok! I don't really care if other people waste their time. As you said, it is not our concern... until my time is squandered in the process. At my age I have very little to waste.
I'm planning a quiet evening at home but I will catch up on that tomorrow. I have some plans there.
Only minutes and no seconds then?
I always have seconds; esp if it is chocolate pudding.
Hell, what a hairstyle! Are you the new girl on the blogs that everybody talk about?
But a happy new year to you too!
We're talking about time & minutes here. Not food & seconds. > Focus Focus Focus!
I try to focus but the faces of both my neighbors are blurred. The must both be drunk.
And I don't understand; the drunker I sit here the longer I get.
I just looove women who can still blush
Have A Happier Newer Year! Kid'O
No disgrace in blushing. Until a hundred years ago blushing was associated with honesty. I was that that a blushing person cannot lie.
Have a happy time of our lives Cat. Mine is always relative to what I do and places I go.
Sometimes it's relative to my moods, happy, sorrowful and joyful but most of all, just let time goes and I don't quite notice how time changes me. Relative to my aging, I mean.
Anyways Cat, have a happy new year and joyful all year round.
I have time to wish you a Happy New Year!!...then off to work I go...ringing in the new year with patients and fellow nurses...
I'm now convinced that the only constant is change and that everything else is relative to something else that is also relative to something else.
Thank you and all the same to you. We have just hit midnight a few minutes ago and I was outside in the street for a while watching some fireworks. Thank heavens it is all over now and things can return to normal again.
Still 2014 here and I am working tonight...I hope it isn't a busy night!!...cheers to you!!
Good blog. Neat history stuff about Stalin, too. I was scared to the max with his rule when I was a kid.
Good scientific stuff too.
The only thing I care about time is being on time and not late!
PS: That Bunbun is quite a young lady with a hilarious sense of humor. I really like that "dismembered" statement! Hee Hee!
It's also a matter of a new hope in this new year when we are still alive.
Happy 2015 to you and your family!
think about this! If time had stopped you would not be working on a day or night like this.
Maybe somebody can invent quicktime that we can carry around in ampules so when we can inject it into our veins whenever we run out of time.
Well, by now the whole world should be nicely settled into the new year. This may be the year when we all find what we are looking for.
I'm sure you will find plenty of time to write blogs in 2015. May you have a wonderful year.
