Canada didn't place sanctions on Cuba...the US respected that decision...the deceased Prime Minister Trudeau was friends Castro!!...and believed the Cuban people would suffer needlessly from sanctions not the people in charge...now the US is now building/restoring a relationship with Cuba...things can change for the better...at least I hope...

I see this from a different angle...make a conscious effort to restore a relationship with Iran...and remove sanctions...the citizens will be happy and less likely to burn the American flag... or indulge in religious extremism...freedom of speech for some is a hard concept to envision...to be jailed for having opposing views...we can demonstrate/vocalize without fear of reprisal...others not so blessed...
