The Famdamily again

A cousin, twice removed (my grandfather was her great-great-grandfather), who now lives a thousand miles from here, called me the other day. She asked if they (her husband and three children) could spend a few days with me when they visit Cape Town during the school holidays. I am very fond of her, so naturally, I said yes.cheering

Then came the second request. Will it be a problem if her husband’s twin brother comes along? I started seeing problems. He is also married with three children. I already have misgivings about her husband and if I have to put up with a look-alike as well, it was not something to look forward to. After a moment of doubt, I reluctantly agreed.uh oh

But it was still not the end. They will be coming to Cape Town by bus, she explained, and will need transportation. It will be ‘very much appreciated’ if they could use my car while they are here. I made such a mistake before; I was certainly not going to do it again. I suppose I could have offered them the use of my dilapidated one-ton pick-up truck, but I curtly refused the request. She sounded a bit disappointed but promised to make another plan.doh

Well, a plan they made. I expected them on Monday but they arrived out of the blue earlier today in two shiny white Japanese cars. The terrible twins, their spouses and six children between them, their ages ranging from two to eleven. Mercifully, they will be leaving for another family member on Tuesday or Wednesday. I’m hoping for Tuesday rather than Wednesday.hmmm

They have only been here for only a few hours and already I’m up the bend. I politely excused myself with the story that I have important work to do and withdrew upstairs to my playroom. The kids are up and down the wooden staircase driving me mad. I will have to stop it before I go completely nuts. I wonder if one can buy nerve gas at the pharmacy.idea

Enjoy your weekend; I won’t have the opportunity to do that.doh

Oh come on Catfoot, relax! comfort As long as those six cute little angels don't do destructive things and hurt theirselves, you will be fine. I am sure you will miss their voices and their noises once they are gone. Children make a home a home.. hug daisy
Hi Kal
We're doing fine. All the inner walls have been destroyed but thankfully three of the outer walls are still intact.

Cat, now be a good old grandad and try to play with them or tell them a story. doh

I of course love children and their company. grin Take it easy.hug teddybear
I find myself embarrassingly popular every August, when the Edinburgh Festival is on. Fortunately when I explain my car is effectively a 2 seater (the bulldog can barely squeeze into the tiny back seat), I avoid the festival crowds like the plague, and I am 20 miles from Edinburgh, all but the most determined sigh and look for closer friends / relatives.

Bit of a cheek, I think. Maybe they wanted to bring a little cheer into Crusty Uncle Cat's life. confused
Ah well, that's what a home means for kids. They can make a mess.. :grin;
Hey, I wonder.. do you think you can take them for a fishing? I am sure it will be their unforgetable experience. cowboy

This time of the tear I don't go anywhere near the fish waters. It is too dangerous. It was a sunny day but very windy outside.

Hi Twazzle
Sounds like good advice but I'm not the one to be subdued. I'm quiet and non-destructive. I need a way to put THEM to sleep. Just as well they came now and not in six months time. The twin brother's wife is six months pregnant. It would have been pajama drill as well.laugh
cheers wave
Hi KN
And why only most of them?laugh

It's too hot! For that....blues
Angel
It is cold here and we have only reached the middle of the winter now. Our spring is suppose to start in September but it normally only gets warmer in November. February and March are the best months in Cape Town. Nice warm days and glorious nights. Little or no wind. It is out of season and the best time to be here.thumbs up

Hi Cattie, what cute kids they are! Do I know their parents?hmmm
Hi Bea,
I doubt it. You had more contact with my mother's family. This far-off cousin is the great granddaughter of my father's eldest brother, now long deceased. We lost contact with this part of the family until about 30 years ago.

Hi Phoenix
Only 2,3 & 4 (mugabe,Amin and Ghadaffi) are 'blood' related. They are first cousins to me, thrice removed. Numbers 1 and 5 belong to the other twin from a previous marriage while number six belongs to his (the other twin's) current spouse.
