All hail the U.S. Military! Put 'em on the border? Oh, can't do that. scold
Yes you can not put the military at the border to protect it because this invasion is preplanned to provide votes to keep the current admin in power until this country’s back is broken and traditional values trashed.

.
Thank you atomicdeb
Thank you Atomic.

It's somewhat bittersweet. We've fought and bled for 20 years in Afghanistan. The leadership utterly failed the troops, and now Biden has made their sacrifices a nullity.

If we could truly defend America against our enemies, we'd start with Biden and work our way down.

Nobody can beat the USA in a standup fight, but we are being destroyed from within and from above.
I think it's inappropriate when someone is honoring our soldiers who gave their lives, like Atomicdeb, to try to turn her blog into a cheap political ploy.
Especially denigrating a new President who represents our Country.

THANKYOU DEB, for honoring America's finest.
Fester, did you ever serve?

I wonder.
@ epird give the boy some room.

Yes, I mentioned, briefly, my inglorious sad experience in one of your own forum threads, well sad compared to your glorious time in service. Do you recall your own forum thread where you were beating your chest about your glorious military experience with photos.
Well men, good morning.
Let me steer a little...
Atomic Deb was 2008,
the blog reviver is possibly here,
so that was timely to do.
Thank you.

Galrads_The "fester" would be Raph.
The chest beating you refer to was not a random
narcissistic event.
Forums does not grasp blogging,clearly.
At the request of several members it was
enjoyed there but many and fortunately
moved onto blogs.Much appreciated Bo.

There are several topics that produce rancor,
especially TOWARDS Americans, from outside
the United States.Let's not make this blog one.

Sidenote : May blog, possibly her Memorial Day blog.
@ boh… i disagree with a lot of your thinking regarding the military and why service personal enlist or do not dodge an active draft system. My father enlisted and served in the 82nd airborne in wwii and never talked about it. My oldest brother enlisted and served in the u.s. air force strategic air command and only talked about the great food they were served while stationed at Ellsworth air force base in rapid city south dakota.

My other older bro also enlisted and served in the marines but unlike me he had a tour of duty in nam. He never talked about his experiences either. I enlisted and served on what was a naval air base on kodiak island until the uscg took the operations over. I am probably the only one in my immediate family to talk and laugh about my experience. My point is we served and our time was personal, unlike others who join for post service benefits and learn job skills or receive pensions.

Most of my uncles and cousins also served in marines and they talk about their experiences among themselves only. My best friend, army green beret, was nominated for the CMH but never talked about it and died with esophageal cancer due to exposure to agent orange years later before the military would provide help.

Vietnam was an extension of the U.S.cold war with the soviet union which i believe never would have escalated had Kennedy completed his first term. I turn down what few va benefits i am entitled to (my tier is too high anyways) and turn down discounts for veterans and, maybe unlike you, i do not carry around a copy of my dd214. The good military personnel are proud and few and feel lucky to survive, not boast.

I hope that is NOT a requirement for Top Brass.rolling on the floor laughing

I might listen to HIS chest beating with love laugh
They had nurses for that type of inspector. laugh

i wonder where Atomic is now. did she meet someone? is she happily married? what anniversary are they celebrating this year? smitten
I doubt they can treat enlisted men today like they did me and others back in the day. They just put them in harms way trying to evacuate defenseless people from foreign countries,
i wonder if she's happy...i hope so
How were you recruited.
Did they ask you...Did Rosie send you.
grin
Gal, we shouldn't defile Rosie the Riveter.
scold A true American Icon.
I originally wanted to enlist along with a cousin in the navy for a submarine program but enlisted with marines because of an uncle I admired who served with the marines in Korea during the bloody ridge battle among others.

Ok enough giggles here for today.
wave thanks!
This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

Without me, my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will ...

My rifle and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit ...

My rifle is human, even as I [am human], because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will ...

Before God, I swear this creed. My rifle and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace!

Marines don't have Drill Sergeants.

Marines (always capitalized BTFW) have Drill Instructors.

The Army, (as in Bill Murray's COLORS) have drill sergeants.
