Thankfully they have health insurance

Just heard on the radio....yes....I do listen to the radio a lot, maybe too much. confused laugh

Anyway, they had a guest on their talking about the top cancer fighting medications and how they double and tripled in price in the past couple of years. He said, an increase in price like that usually takes much longer time. Even with insurance, a patient can still spend upwards to $100,000 a year on medicine. Basically, taking, the majority who can afford this medication, their life savings. Thankfully we have insurance....still broke anyway. very mad

It seems as big business can stick it to the population no matter what.

That is the saddest. One would have to go out of the country to get meds.I'm going to mexico next year,to get a procudure done as it does not cover. The medical part is cut too.wine

Medical tourism is what is happening now...and if our pharmaceutical companies are not totally devoid of empathy...they will ensure cancer drugs will be made available for most of the population...

Greed is a major reason why healthcare is not affordable not to mention the insurance companies having the monies to tie up any litigation disputes by their paying customers...

I predict that if the government doesn't curtail this unbelievable conduct by these corporations...the American people will in fact revolt...

Just reading up on the so called donations given to political campaigns...they are no longer interested in being elected by the people...it is big corporations that are lining their pockets and gaining favours...scold thumbs down
Here we call it medical aid. Most people can't afford it.
I think the most promising cancer research is in the genetically modified T-cell research. Of course if it becomes a standard thing and cancer deaths vanish, what will we replace those deaths with? We can't have everyone being immortal. Only those who are of the right bloodlines should get that, or so they will say..
Hello Johnny Spartonhandshake I happen to have ms , and each year there is afew new drugs out to slow the progression of the diseaseconfused , and these drugs come with side effects, and the possibility of workingconfused
Ms has been studied for the last 120 yrs, endless research and money has been spent on this disease, and the end result is a possibility of working, with side effects, doh
These drug companies are preying on the purse strings of sick, desparate people, Talk about legalized theft.
My ms , after 12 yrs doesn t seem to be progressing, proper diet, exercise seem to be the best medicine for me, but sooner than later some docter will want to put me on some new medicine, confused You can imagine my reply.
You have a Great Day Johnny, cheers
Capri,

I thought Obama's plan for national healthcare insurance was to offer people any health care that people need and to save people from the difficult choice of choosing between life and death, saving the left arm and not the right, or from being financially secure or broke. Guess not.

Good luck with your procedure. wave
Snook,

"Obama Care" just passed recently, otherwise I was a small business owner and could not afford the crazy premiums before. Now I have health insurance and from what I am hearing, I am not exactly sure I have it.

Thanks...

wave
*not exactly sure why I have it.
Ken,

Given the way wealth is dispersed here, I would not be surprised if what you stated is correct. Health might just be a privilege. blues thumbs down
1to....

That is exactly what gets me upset. People that are sick are in a place of desperation and these companies know it. thumbs down For example....how quickly these cancer drugs increased and by how much.

Congrats with your health 1to. I agree 100%, a good diet and exercise is our best medicine. It is important for us, as people, to pay attention to our bodies and listen to its signals it is sending us early on to try and prevent any major issues.

Thanks...

cheers wave
No matter how we look at it Johnny, it seems it is a dagger to all of us, the population. But in comparison to the old system before the OBAMA care, I can say this. The 28 percent uninsured surely were helped but the 72 percent that had insurance were truly messed up.

I was wondering why there are thousand of pages written on provision that which is so hard to be understood by simple minded like me.

The complication of such a coverage baffles me. All I know was that with my old insurance policy, as a full time employee, didn't cause me any, and with my family then only caused me $500 a month now it can go up to $1,200 monthly premium. Thank God now I am alone and hence only pay $400 a month for my health insurance.

Hello SR,

I realize it is difficult to set up a program that will make every last person happy. But, I would hate to be a cancer patient and have to rely on those certain types of medications. I am glad to hear that things are somewhat working out for you.

Thanks..
