For the electric minded

I have a totally dead GFI box. Since it is dead, my gizmo to locate the relevant circuit breaker won't work. Other than killing all current to the house before working on the dead outlet, is there an alternative way?

Ken what is the actual fault?

im assuming the GFI is what we call here an HPFI relay or in the Uk a ELCB/ RCD?
using a multi-meter with insulated probes and utilizing a HIGH AC setting you can trace out a fault between
0 and phase / phase to phase
No. Please be careful doing your own electrical. Mice are a common problem. I used to be in the IBEW in WA. And in industrial/commercial end so good luck...
Ken the safest way is. using HI V gloves and a Probe totest for a fault
but in the absence of safety equipment and specific probes it would. be safer to call an authorized sparky to look at the problem, we DONT want to lose you!!
Excellent!
