Drama around Cecil the Lion!

Ever since the news broke on the demise of Cecil the Lion, I am trying my best to get engulfed deep in emotions and trying to get sad, however I don't feel a tinge of any major and life changing sadnessrolling on the floor laughing I am just being honest. However, what actually makes me sad is the realization that how misdirected people's emotions are. Almost a billion people everyday go hungry in one way or the other, seldom I would see a late night comedy host, Jimmy Kimmel in this Cecil case, shedding tears or getting choked up on the human misery of present.

Ok, I can acknowledge that Ceil had a celebrity status and he was a lion, but when I saw him play around his cubs, his interactions around his pride in general, his aimless wandering....all of it simply made me realize I am watching just another animal, and nothing special!doh Goats, cows, pigs, all pretty much do the same stuff, and, yes, they are not as good looking as Cecil, but nonetheless they all are animals. I see no distinction between a special breed of animal and not so special. We consume tons of animals everyday, cook them in spices and soups and whatnot, and then we have these powerful emotions to make this Cecil issue not only a national but a global one.

I wish only if all these protestors, big celebrities, leaders of different nations could invest half of as much interest as they expressed in Cecil in making the conditions of the poor better over lamenting the loss of an animal of "Iconic" status...what a load of lion's crap!grin

People love drama, protests, hanging out on the streets under the pretext of raising their voice against the so called injustice, but the same people can leave a hungry man go hungry and walk him by, sometimes insulting or dispensing a prudent advice for him to go and work but don't spare a dime. But OMG, if some good looking and famous lion has been killed, OMG, this event has turned their lives upside down. And instead of demanding the head of the so called Dentist hunter, demand your governments to go full throttle and use the military might to wipe out the real hunters of humanity like ISIS and to direct more food aid to the millions of people around the globe. Lions, elephants, pandas, goats, cows, chickens....just let them be where they are and how they are, dead or alive!sad flower

I have to admit that I am somewhat with you on this one but it doesn't make hunting for one's ego right.

It's just wasteful and man at his worst!

handshake
P.s I won't be around for while today but it's been interesting!

cheers
And then the governments, who are fumed with the dentist, please stop the manufacturing of the most sophisticated hunting rifles and these fancy bows and arrows.doh
A good blog pointing out our cruelty to other humans in not recognising their right to live without fear of attack from ISIS etc.
If we paid more attention to this instead of putting up a smoke screen of hunted animals we would have a better perspective.
Tom, truly appreciate your affirmation. cheers
Yeah but some folks, a small percentage, are more partial
to Animals than others.
I cocurgrin I am also concerned in case he gets the prison time in Zimbabwe, he might need a dentist to fix him up with a shinny bright set of new dentures!rolling on the floor laughing
What ever we do, wether there are no more lions, or we end up destroying ourselves..mother nature will just cary on..it dont need us..and evolution will carry on, lions r no lions.
Hello Ian, how are you doing. Before I joined here, I read couple of your blogs, I have to say that you are the most balanced mind here.handshake I wish you very good health. Now to your comment...you just said it all in few lines for which I took out this whole blog for.doh doh Thanks for dropping bycheers
Hello Sands, I actually looked for your Cecil blog, where is it, I could not find it in your blog list, or was it some other Cecil blog you commented on? And yes, hunting revenues, I also thought that just like in any business you have revenues and expenses, so when I read the Cecil news I simply thought Cecil can comfortably be written off as one time item/ expense (although his demise is simply an intangible asset) and their books can go further in black because Cecil has given them unprecedented publicity as well a new stream of donations and the potential for more tourists. In essence, for these African countries, his demise is the best thing happened for their Industry. handshake Thanks for inputcheers
Animals have NO voice which is why there is an outcry from humankind on these issues.

Why though do people such as yourself think that those who do decry such atrocities do not also recognise injustice against humanity doh
Oh wait, I just noticed your cynical post re vegetarians and noted that you dwell in a country with zero animal rights.

One that skins and cooks animals while their their hearts are still beating, one that sells caged dogs in markets for food, their limbs tied behind their backs.

And so on.

I get it now thumbs down
