The Gift of High Oil Prices

In hindsight, I see the era of expensive oil as being a gift to humanity. Because of high prices, we have developed reliable electric transportation, we are now looking into renewable natural resources, all while protecting our Earth.

I think sometime in the future each household will have their own source of renewable energy, whether it be solar or wind. Also, we will be using electric cars. We will then be able to power and heat our homes, after our personal power sources are paid for, for free, and we will be able to travel for free.

Thank you big oil companies. thumbs up

confused.... WE?
Well! Johnny
I don't think I that it will be free.
typing We! Will pay somebody.
Pepps...I know you probably travel, power, and heat your home for free as it is....but, there are the rest of us. laugh
Maybe....just maybe they will create a wind and sun tax for us. sigh

But, no more wars over oil. thumbs up
Sorry! For the I. Somebody push me.
nerd Who did that?
Johnny
You are right! There is the rest of the people....drinking
Rather rude of somebody to push you Pepps. You know I would never do that to you. hug mumbling rolling on the floor laughing
Johnny
Yep! But she ran away...wink
Hi Johnny, excellent observation, hopefully will see it in our lifetime. The only negative is a loss of many oil related jobs....but good for the many not so much the few...cheers
Pepps, are going to get yourself an electric car sometime in the future? After you get that, you can look into buying your own self sufficient power source. grin I think right now, all that stuff is a little expensive. But, as time goes on...and economies of scale kick in, the price should drop a bit. Not to mention, the quality should also increase.

There are so many benefits of us becoming self sufficient. :)
Johnny

I agree/but the tech being there sleeping thanks to oil industry

I mean, this less costly energy like hybrid and stuff like that

not really new but kept away suppressed by oil industrygift
Sands,

I do agree. A lot of oil related jobs would be lost. But, new jobs should become available in the renewable resource industry.

Johnny
Yep! I will.
But! This weekend. I'm head to Chicago, Illinois.
I might do that when I get back...bouquet
DH,

I agree. Wind and solar have been around for many years. However, reliable and practical electric cars available to the masses is somewhat a new concept.

It would be nice for the world as a whole to have gotten a "slap in the face" on just how much the oil companies hold us hostage. I mean after the 2.5 fold of the fuel cost and not the mention the 3 fold cost with heating homes. Not to mention the wars it has caused, the mass pollution to our waters and land, and the lobbying power these oil companies have with our governments. I am sure I am missing other aspects to consider.

Would be nice for all that stuff to add up to us seeing the benefits of being self sufficient.

Thanks

help In my part of the world we are having load shedding every single day. There are power cuts for up to two or three hours a day where we have no electricity. The businesses are losing revenue ,so much so that my son had to close down one of his very well known restaurants due to the power cuts which always take place during the busy lunch or dinner hour. No generators were allowed in the shopping centres and the big boys of old mutual were not fazed in the least. frustrated frustrated
Pepps...welcome back to the neighborhood. :) I see right now you guys have some bad storms in your area. I think you are packing up at the right time.
Maybe you are right Johnny..Now all the EV are generating a lot of buzz for the benefit of the environment. The problem on the battery generated vehicle like the volt is the disposal of those acids when it is run down..we haven't figured out how to dispose them as eco friendly as possible but hopefully it won't self defeat the original objectives..

Nice blog Johnny..

Sandy!
Sorry! It did it again/ Mouse. Shucks!...moping
Candy,

It sounds like you need some solar/wind technology down there. I think it would be cute (or possibly just a dream) to have a solar and wind power generating business make that stuff and operate their company at a bare minimal profit. Actually, do something good for humankind. :)

Johnny
Thanks! For the welcome.
confused So! We going out to dinner. And it's your treat! Right?...hug
Hello SR,

Hmmm...I was not aware of that, as I am not really up to date on these things. It is possibly an issue that a solution can be found for in the future...hopefully sooner than later.

Thank you for sharing.
