Football....

OK so I'm settling down for a lazy Sunday watching Arsenal v West Ham and Pool v Stoke...
And yes I love football, I love the Premiership, but a few times recently when I've said this, the first comment I've had from people isn't concerning the football... it's concerning the money involved and the money paid to the players.

So I'm just musing on why it's such an issue when so many other people get paid utterly ridiculous amounts of money for what they do without censure.

Would you not watch a brilliant film because you object to the amount of money your favourite actor was paid to star in it?

Would you take your money out of a bank because of the fat cats lining their pockets?

Would F1 fans complain about the amount of money spent developing the cars... let alone what the drivers get paid?

Would you refuse to listen to your favourite band because the netted millions on their last tour?

Anyway you get the idea....

Its still the beautiful game, so why shouldn't they get paid every penny they can get, while they can get it, when they have to have the talent to get to that level in the first place and careers can be cut short so easily.

And yes I do understand the offside rule before anyone asks.....

Sorry RedMolly, I don't know much about this sport but mind ya, I love following the news of the WAGs wink
Hi from a Hammers fan since the 70suh oh ....waiting for the kickoff alsodancing
I admit to preferring the old days when players were far less mercenary but nothing we can do about thatdunno
Whose your team?wine
Hi Raven... I know what you mean, all I was saying is these are the days we live in... money is out of control across the board so...

The cross I bear is being a lifetime Baggies girl (Boing Boing) laugh
Abbey Clancy/Crouch? Frankie Sanford of The Saturdays? Alex Gerrard?? You sure heard of Coleen Rooney, no? How about Christine Bleakley who has been waiting forever for Frank Lampard to pop the question?
Afraid I'm in the "Can't believe what they're paid" camp, when you think some of these players are paid in a week what the PM of the UK earns in a year I can't help but think we have our priorities wrong , it's true others are also paid ridiculous amounts but I look at a film actor's performance & think I couldn't do that, I certainly couldn't drive an F1 car at the speed they do, but when I watch football & see a player taking a shot & miss the goal by 30 ft I think to myself I could do that! How many others would survive in their jobs if they were so inaccurate, can you imagine an airline pilot keep his job if he constantly missed the runway by 30ft!
dream... dunno confused dunno confused
no interest in wannabe celebrity gold diggers sorry laugh
Well Molly, W.B.A. sounds a more original answer than Man Utd...
Alas though, as you well know..without a rich benefactor nowadays
the main aim for both our teams is to stay in the Prem,...and maybe grab a Cup along the way...dunno but sure we live in hopehandshake
Well you gotta agree that if they don't do it, there are a lot of others waiting to do it...professor

Anyway, hope you'll have a pleasant Sunday, RedMolly bouquet .

Red, maybe the answer to that lies in the fact most of us can kick a ball dancing laugh maybe I should put myself forward as a premiership player, Ok I'm not very good but I'd do it for half wages professor rolling on the floor laughing
All money discussions will now take a back seat as West Ham have just taken the leadcheering laugh
