Animals' Souls

There appears to be some sort of life force or psychic energy in every living entity.
When that entity dies, what happens to that force or energy?
Some argue that that energy is annihilated into nothingness or destroyed.

The Law of Conservation of Energy, however, states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed; therefore that energy will continue to exist even after the death of the living entity. It may exist in a different form or even in a different dimension but it will not vanish into nothingness. From a human perspective, this energy is normally referred to as “soul” or “spirit”.

But what about non-human living entities like animals, for example, dogs and cats. By a similar argument, they also possess some life force or energy when they are alive, and by extension, that energy will continue to exist after they die. The term “soul” or “spirit” is usually reserved for human beings. Can we also use it for animals and speak of a dog's or cat's “soul”, especially in regard to our pets? After all, some of our pet dogs and cats can be quite human-like in their behaviour, providing comfort, caring and faithfulness to us, maybe even more so than some of our human family and friends.

What happens to these animals' “souls” after death? I have a poet friend on CS Poetry Corner who is a genuine cat lover. In some of his poems, he has written of “Kitty Heaven” where he expects to be re-united with his deceased feline friends in the future.

I am aware of the teachings of some religions, with regard to human beings, of a permanent residence for the soul in either heaven or hell after death. Others speak of the soul being reborn or recycled in another life. If you are a person who accepts the teachings of such religions, then that is fine. I am not attacking anyone's religion.

However, the life force or “soul” energy that enables a human being or an animal is basically some form of energy that continues to exist after the human being or animal dies. By extension, this should also apply to “all living entities”, including other animals, fish, birds, insects, etc..
In my opinion, to restrict the idea of “soul” or “spirit” to human beings only, is a very anthropocentric perspective, for which, to me, there is absolutely no justification.

Perhaps there exists a huge “life energy pool” from which life energy is drawn to enable new living entities. When these living entities die, their life energy is returned to that “life energy pool” which, in turn, continues to enable other “new living entities”.

Do animals have souls? What do you think?

Studies on Dolphins alleged they have a sentience, just like
we do. So in the sense of a perceived Soul, yes these mammals
do. A Squirrel does not know it is a Squirrel. Energy is just
released imo, nothing biblical about it.
Socrates...Certainly agree that the life force/energy would not disappear or be completely destroyed...it could be transformed or transplanted into something or someplace we do not recognize. And all living things have this life force so why would we exclude animals when we talk of "soul"? Very deep subject and no one can be sure of the answer...but after having been privileged to have animals/pets..angel.I think they must surely find the same continuation somewhere of their life force when they pass from this world. heart wings happy place
You have two totally different questions there.

Do animals have souls? Sure, why wouldn't they? In fact one concept for dead pets is a variation of the Bifrost Rainbow bridge. When you climb it, all your deceased pets will be waiting there for you and everything/everyone is reunited before entering Heaven.

Yeah, Dark Energy and Dark Matter. It may be life force. Do souls become Dark Matter is a topic being explored elsewhere along with is Dark Energy just life force?
Soc,

I like your idea of a "life energy pool." It makes me wonder if something like this was the reason why the ancients made sacrifices to the gods. dunno Obviously the gods did not have any use for the physical nature of the living being...but maybe for its energy. I am not sure, but that is an interesting perspective you share with animal spirits.

I would think they have souls. For the exact same reason you point out in your blog. ....energy does not up and disappear. Unless, that theory is mistaken and our science is not advanced enough to realize it. dunno

I should say...I think (as do many) that the ancients were more spiritually in line with nature than we are today. It is possible they knew something we do not today.
If we do, they do. We vastly over-estimate the difference between the animals and ourselves. But literally we don't have a soul, it's doubtful that we even have free will, so neither do the animals.
Hi Socretes.....I often wonder at what point in evolution us humans developed a so- called 'soul'?.... As we have all evolved from some species closely related to the Great Ape would it not be logical to believe that, if there is such a thing as a soul, animals would have acquired one first?.....
Life energy applause that is a good way of putting it. Put into the pot of life or it will run dryprofessor
That energy do you think it would be the same in a bad person or good person??
Does it have a life after body is dead and what form would it take?
Lots of questions on this one socrates.
As to animals well (soul) to me is a funny word but (energy) of course they have energypeace
confused Only thing being what good does it do to know all the answers when this energy would never be in the same form again. It cannot be utilized it is just there. We can switch a light bulb on but lifes energy (as Yet) has not been exploited. That is a man thing isnt itmoping
Wishing you wellteddybear
Life is life no matter in what physical form it manifests itself. Why would the energy giving life to animals be different from humans? Life has no form or identity outside the physical body. It can not have else nothing new can be born as all life will be trapped as people long dead and gone. People and things die so that energy can be released in order to give life to the next generation. It can't go to heaven or hell as pretty soon there will be no more life left on earth if that is the case

Thanks for your comment.

In this blog, the use of the word “soul” relates strictly to that life force or life energy that is associated with a living entity. According to the Law of Conservation of Energy, energy can neither be created nor destroyed. So when that living entity “dies”, that energy still continues to exist. It may be changed to a different form or exist in a different dimension.

Very Good Question!

The process of evolution from some “lower” life form to a “higher” life form, that is, the human species is a continuum. At exactly what point in the continuum, can we say the “soul” (in the traditional sense of the word involving the teachings of religion) came into being?
Hi Redex
Thanks for your comment.

You have posed some very interesting questions as food for thought.
With regard to your question:
“Does it have a life after body is dead and what form would it take?”

In the blog, I mentioned that, after death, the “life energy” may even exist in a different dimension.

I expressed this view in a previous blog:
“Frequency Dimensions, Multiple Universes, After-De...”

Here is an excerpt from it:

“A band of frequencies constitute a dimension or universe.
There are a multiple number of dimensions, meaning that there are multiple universes.

Your consciousness is tuned to the 3D wavelength, which determines what you physically see and how you interact with objects. The 4th dimension has a different set of properties, hence you cannot see anything from the 4D reality, unless you change the frequency of your body to correspond to the frequency of the 4th dimension. Each dimension has its own specific frequencies and wavelengths. Life in the universe is not limited to the 3rd dimension; it is just that we cannot see the other realities that exist, because those realities have different frequencies and wavelengths that do not correspond to our 3D senses. Therefore, our physical existence on Earth is simply one of many infinite realities in the “Multidimensional Universe.”

I believe that when we die, our consciousness, soul, spirit or whatever, enters into a different dimension with a different frequency or vibration from that which we can normally feel or sense in ordinary day-to-day life. If someone is able to tune in to that frequency range, they may receive messages or signals from that dimension. This is similar to the reception of broadcasts from various radio stations or television channels, where we need to tune in to the operating frequency of a particular station or channel.
Paranormal experiences probably occur when there is an interaction of the reality of some other dimension with that of our ordinary day-to-day world.”

Read the lost book," the Essened"....you will find your answer there.
Calliopesgirl

I did a Google search on "the Essened" that you mentioned but found no such word.
I know about the "Essenes" associated with the Dead Sea scrolls.

Please tell us of the answer that you mentioned.
