It's really over

So I was sitting in a Scottish pub garden last weekend, basking in the fierce Scottish sun as dogs collapsed panting and eggs fried on the sidewalk. I ordered a beer shandy and as the first icy frothing mouthful headed for those parts other drinks don't reach, the unusual taste triggered a Moment.

Picture it. I joined one of the biggest breweries in Europe in 2002, and for 10 years I was given a free case of the beer of my choice every month. It made me very popular with my neighbours, because I drink perhaps half a dozen beers a year, so I passed most of it on. In 2012 the brewery moved its accounts to another country and paid me very generously to go away - my redundancy payout was a year's salary - and I loyally continued to drink their brands when and if I drank beer.

Last weekend, I tasted a competitor's beer for the first time in 13 years. It wasn't as good. There's just something about Amstel um can I say the name?

Doors do close. Here's to windows beer

I know, no point to the blog, and I won't be around much so don't feel any need to comment.

I'm currently chained to a desk by one of the biggest dairies in Europe and get 2 litres of their brightest and best every Friday - also as many yoghurts as I could carry if I ate yoghurt, and there is talk of cheese and butter in the future. wow So that's a window.

TGIF joy cartwheel rollers flower hug
So we can look foward to even cheesier blogs in the future??

Yeah, there's nothing like a good clear out on a regular basis.rolling on the floor laughing
At least now you can butter up when you need to cheers (Amstel)
I have a regular argument with my neighbours over beer, they buy tins because you get more for your money, whereas I prefer Alhambra in bottles, it tastes better & at €6 odd a crate it doesn't exactly break the bank drinking wave
Lucy you're probably mocking me but that comment whooshed straight over my head snooty

tongue
Cocheta, oh the puns are ROLLING here. As long as we're not talking Last Tango uh oh wow
I like San Miguel whilst in Spain.

And Tyskie when in Ireland.
Z, I've still not quite got used to the idea of paying for beer at all laugh
I gave up dairy years ago. Almond milk, Kefir and goat's milk butter and cheese share space in my fridge. They all seem to get on quite well, too! hug laugh
Molly - San Miguel was one of ours. Tyskie I shall have to investigate - if someone offers to buy me one.

BTW when I do reach retirement age I am entitled to claim my monthly free case of beers again. Should put that on my profile batting Every little helps ...
Good thing, elegs, you weren't standing up at the time or it would've hit you right in the middle of the forehead! laugh
Lucy, wow that's an exotic fridge.

(If I am buying milk, I buy local, and organic. Don't tell my current employers. uh oh I once worked for an ad agency that handled the Pepsi account. A colleague was fired on the spot for asking at a party FOR THE CLIENT if there wasn't any Coca Cola at the bar ...)
Huh, Lucy, like an egg? Cream pie?

I shall be brighter tomorrow morning and then, oh boy, will I have a retort for you. You'll be REELING. rolling on the floor laughing

When I saw the title I thought you were referring to a guy! I really am sorry for your loss bouquet

Have a Charles Glass beer
Oh and apropos of absolutely nothing, I solved my William and Mary dilemma. So should go and write stuff now.

One of those 03h00 moments. What would we do for ideas if there weren't early hours?
Jeez, I thought your title was referring to summer! laugh It must be because of all the work we had to do with the "hareem" situation. Very draining stuff. help rolling on the floor laughing
Coch, like anyone would read the blog if they thought I was just being philosophical? Thanks for sticking with it when you realized rolling on the floor laughing

Ooh, a Charles glass!

What's a Charles glass?

Off to ask Uncle Google ...
You were doing top work on the 'hareem' stuff, I particularly enjoyed the juggling roll eyes
Cocheta, colour me puzzled. I enjoyed the bodybuilders, but not a glass in sight laugh
Ah Biff

You did mention the time there, so you're forgiven laugh

Castle Brewery
"Castle Brewery is one of the oldest commercial breweries in South Africa. As company-endorsed legend would have it, the company was founded by Charles Glass in Johannesburg in 1894. Wikipedia"

I'm off to slumberland (bed) grin
Cocheta, I should have remembered! doh No wonder my SA passport was confiscated. Nothing to do with holding two passports at all.
Lucy - it was a charming image, well evoked. A Kodak moment, if you could only ever get the chance sigh
Yes, I like rugby too. Am up tomorrow at 4:30 a.m. to watch Canada play Ireland. It isn't a big sport here so we don't get to see it much on TV. Had a good laugh watching them the last time they met. there was a lot of yipping and yapping between the players. laugh
They will replay the game later, if you do not wish to rise
at 4:AM:laugh:
Yes I know but I can't watch it at the later time. crying
Errrr, Ummmm.... Whats really over?

Are you sure thats not the title to another blog you were writing?

Get some new specks Girl! rolling on the floor laughing
Well, the week is really over. Which is a relief.

I was feeling gloomy and introspective. Then Molly kicked THAT into touch and Lucy joined the scrum and England are playing Samoa and I feel a lot better ta thanks for popping by. About to respond on your blog by courteous return.
Oooh, fighting words!! Love it! popcorn
Fiji doing some nice stuff but golly England are giving it some wellie. wow

What I love about rugby, those big men fly high and hit the ground HARD and just scramble up and pitch back in. I am so not a footie fan. Bunch of sissies!
Rugby is definitely a tougher game, and then are built like mountains too smitten

That's why I love our native game, hurling, also.

It is very fast and skillful, and they just get on with it..no rolling around crying because the bold boy knocked them down!
