nice from far

Saw a seriously dishy guy today during long airport wait - our eyes met, we half-smiled, did that thing, you know, where you widen your eyes slightly oooh you look interesting. He was with someone, though, her back turned, very slender, VERY brown. When she turned round she was so sunbeaten and wrinkled she looked 90 but the main thing that spoiled her looks was the fading black eye.

Funny, he suddenly didn't look so good either.

I met a surprising number of women on this holiday who moved to Spain with a guy, it went sour, but they've stayed. Also met a couple who met online 9 years ago, married, and look great and happy. I mention that because they were a little older than I am now when they met. Nice to know it can happen and there ARE keepers out there! yay

That sort of makes up for the thumpers. That's why I told both stories.

Nice to see you back! Did you enjoy your holiday? You didn't miss much here.....SOS! laugh
Haha I missed one lovely big scandal but was filled in by my elves.

Surprisingly nice to be back. And so nice to not be relying on a wavering erratic signal!
That Spain was 32 degrees and so humid when I left - Scotland, bless her, pouring with rain and 12 degrees. MWAHHHH.
The social sides of the holiday, heaven, enjoyed every minute. Quality time with half-sister uh oh yikes.

Apparently I ruined her life from the minute I was born. She explained in great detail for 7 days on the trot. I feel a heel. blues
The heat and humidity in Spain can be a bit much when you aren't used to it. I hope you had the grace to thank your half-sister for letting you know how she feels. Jeez, but some people go through life carrying the most unnecesary grudges. dunno I hope you told her that you love her anyway! laugh
Neither that hot nor humid here dancing wave
Haha Lucy she said at the end that we'd had such a wonderful time and she hoped I'd go back soon! I am a VERY polite guest! uh oh
Z you're probably too used to it to notice - although even the locals were getting a little limp and peevish as it got more humid by the day. Humid is not usually a feature, I'm assured, ever, let alone October. Special for me. Just lucky I guess.

Walked the dog in misty rain - she wasn't that keen on the idea, but I insisted. Cool again!!!!

I may even put on a jersey later. Right now, loving the fingertips turning blue.
zman, when I visited I stayed at friends' apartment in Nerja. It was April so still very cool here at home. So for me, the heat and humidity felt very intense. However, I'm certain I could get used to it quite easily! laugh
scold nothing to do with being used to it, was about 23c here today, I'm nearer the Atlantic professor grin
okey dokey.
Hmmm unfriendly half sister, hope you told her you'll only go back if you can stay with the other half, the friendly one professor rolling on the floor laughing
Lucy, NEXT time I am definitely heading that side of the country, more bloggers there too. We should synchronise watches and hit 'em hard with about 4 visitors at once. Where's Cake? Cake?? You in??

(Z prepares to leave the country for indefinite holiday elsewhere laugh )
Z I think I'm the friendly half rolling on the floor laughing

She wasn't unfriendly or even that hostile. Just reproachful. And determined to tell me every detail. sigh

But she has great friends, ages 40 to 70, and boy do ex-pats know how to party wow
With wine starting at a euro a litre & a bottle of gin at 4 euros, we can afford to practice drinking wine beer rolling on the floor laughing
Elegs
Sure! It can happen for you too.
By the way!
A close friend of mines, mother is getting married next month. Her mother is 82 years of age. And her soon to be husband is that age as well. He lives in California! And she will be relocating there! And her daughter will be taking over her mother's home here.

So! It can happen for you too!____dance
It's a good life. Quality and quantity and the man (or woman) who invented ceiling fans should be knighted ...
Angel - yay Love it.

My father wanted to marry for the 4th time but her kids said no, Mum, live in sin. My dad was 82 and his GF was 83. They did. hug

Just as well, 2 half-sisters, a brother, a stepsister and a stepbrother was enough without another 4 stepbrothers wow
Hi Elegs.wave Welcome back!bouquet Gosh, that holiday flew by. It seems like only yesterday that you were getting ready to go.cool
So Cake, are you in on the next Spanish assault?

And believe me it feels like a year since I left. A YEAR. It was a gruelling holiday rolling on the floor laughing

Joy, back to work tomorrow ...
Oops, I won't be able to go. Plans are to spend time with friends at their summer home on one of the Elaphiti Islands.
That's a shame that you didn't enjoy it. Your sister reminds me so much of mine it's uncanny. She too has a habit of bringing things up that I did to her when we were kids. If it's not me it's my mother in the firing line. At least you have done your duty now and can forget about it. Take a holiday from the holiday!!laugh
LM that sounds incredibly exotic wow
Cake I loved the social bits and there was a lot of that, we were out every day. And duty has been done, as you say.
The next time I holiday - and God only knows when that will be -I would like to go to Florence and/or Rome. I was supposed to go their last year on a cruise with my man but unfortunately, it was not to be. Maybe next year.
It's incredibly beautiful and laid back. I absolutely love going there and spending time with them. My Croatian isn't too bad either! laugh
Cake, hope you get that holiday. Take a chameleon fella, they are extremely good company and will be wildly interested in everything that interests you, which should last at least as long as the holiday yay
rolling on the floor laughing Elegs - no thanks!
LM, video, please, or at the very least an audio recording, 4 sentences in Croation, would be an amazing addition to your profile. If I spoke something interesting I'd try it myself. Hola? Nah. Too short.
Cake! that was solid gold advice!! You do NOT want to ruin your dream holiday with a bloke who wants to watch footie instead of exploring, or gets mulish about yet another beautiful church! roll eyes
It might sound silly but I was supposed to go with my lovely man and no-one can take his place. I will probably rope in a friend or family member.grin
No that doesn't sound silly at all, Piece. Whoever you end up going with, I do hope you have a really lovely visit. It's a beautiful country.
Cake, ditto what LM said.

I fell in love for the first time in Venice (I was a spotty 15 year old and it was more of a heavy one-sided crush) but to me it is the most romantic country in the world. I hope to go again one day with someone pretty special.

sigh i.e. unlikely to happen.

Or with a chameleon. I've dated one. They really are good company. Didn't think of him as that of course, but I do rather like the term now that it has been coined.

grin
For Cake:

ITALIAN MOTHER
Giuseppe excitedly tells his mother he's fallen in love and that he is going to get married.

He says, 'Just for fun, Mama, I’m going to bring over three women and you try and guess which one I'm going to marry.' The mother agrees.

The next day, he brings three beautiful women into the house, sits them down on the couch & they chat for a while.

He then says, 'Okay, Mama, guess which one I'm going to marry?'

Mama says immediately, 'The one on the right. '

'That's amazing, Mama. You're right. How did you know? '

Mama replies: 'I don't like her.'
That "Dishy Guy" Could be from Another Planet......transport
Nam, no visible tentacles. But yup he and his fists could push off to another planet cool
Legs,

you do have sharp eyes!!rolling on the floor laughing keep a keen eye always, it could happen to you anytime...here on blogs or out there in real life!thumbs up wine
Crazy - I'll keep my fingers crossed. Could make life interesting love
Er - I mean aliens. Not blokes who are quick with their fists. She was a scrawny little thing, if it were me he would have been on the baggage trolley, not pushing it ... I've got red hair and the temper to match.
devil
If the guy was dishy, perhaps the girl got a black eye from fighting off a rival?
