Truth

Telling a depressed person to "snap out of it" or "just be happy", is like telling a deaf person to listen harder.

hi Track, yes very true, the only way is to address/attack the issues that lead to the depression, then it can lift
like a cold clears up after, but if issues still persist, then its not easy to deal with of course.

I hope youre still strumming the guitarhandshake
so true track just show them you are around and give them a bit of a hug. Listen is the word too let them pour it all outhug peace peace teddybear
I had it all said to me over the years, "oh just be happy", "snap out of it", "have you tried not being depressed?"

It just don't work that way. The mental tools that normal people have to "snap out of it" is missing in depressed people. We do not have those mental tools to "just be happy". Depression is a disease of the mind and like any other disease, it has its symptoms.

Treatment unfortunately is not a exact science. Many times when a doctor gives you pills, they are not 100% sure if they will be effective or not. Sometimes it takes trying several different pills before finding the right one, and what works for one may not work for another.
Track I have learned over the years the more I tried to find out why I suddenly became depressed the worse it became.
These days I think of it as a black cloud and know it will blow over. This now means the black cloud does not appear so often now. I feel lucky in that.teddybear teddybear teddybear
