Another ghost in the virtual machine.
So there I was sitting down at my computer. Not much had been happening on CS, I browsed the usual blog titles and nothing Jumped out to suck me in as I hoped it would.
Boredom was upon me so I went to look at my facebook page and thought that perhaps there, I would find something something to sooth my discontentment with reality.
It wasn't long before I was greeted with the bright red square,
You know the one most all of us now associate with a quick release of endorphin's. That's right, The ones we are more than likely a tad addicted to !
It was not what I expected. A friend request !
Not just one but two, It was two brothers from my past, Youthful friends. I had not thought about these guys in a long while, let alone fathomed the Idea that they may be sending me friend requests.
But there it was in front of me, awaiting my acceptance.
I looked at the screen for a while pondering these faces from my past and all the memories that were associated with them.
Some good and some very sad ones were recalled. The conclusion to my pondering was
"Whats the harm, allow the requests through and in a week or two we can all go back to forgetting about each other again"
Thinking this would save me from looking rude or ignorant
I clicked accept. To my shock, I was presented with The message
"Friend request sent"
This resulted in me closing my facebook account, I mean the day when I decide to let a piece of software act in a manner
Firstly:-
deceiving me of the intentions of others toward me.
Secondly:-
Assuming it knows best when to repair bridges I may have purposely burned times ago.
And thirdly:-
Using manipulative tactics.
Am I over analyzing this issue, I mean if a person came up to me on the street and said such a person whom I had not seen in a while want me to call to their house, and I went only to be received with blank empty stairs and denials of ever requesting my presence. Then I would feel very stupid and I am sure the other person would feel quite irked too.
This leaves us with the third party, the manipulator of these circumstances. Would I ever expect to be in their company and trust again. ? Would You ?
Let me know what you think

Oooh! I don't know. I only check my FB. Once a week. To once a year!___ But! Whatever you decide. You just do you___
We'll always have myspace
yip, quite infuriating
I am however glad to see its not only happening to me.
What vexes me mor seems to be our willingness to allow this kind of manipulation to go on. Surly ownership of Our consent is worth more.
Thanks, Glad to support your cause,
I Should have done it years ago myself.
Facebook is so yesterday
Also check your friends list. Make sure it isn't larger than you thought it was. An earlier incarnation of the bug allowed you to accept the friend request without knowing it if you waved your finger over their image AFTER they had waved their finger over yours. FB has at least (so far as I know) fixed that issue, but the sending of requests automatically problem still exists for cell phone users. This can also occur when reading comments if your finger gets too near the comment of someone halfway around the planet. Then you write your own comment and later their finger gets too near your FB icon and lo, you just approved their unknown friend request. It is a genuine potential problem for those who granted hundreds of 'friend' requests, not so much for those like me who discriminate and friend only 20 or so, because we see the growth at once, but the larger friend list owners don't.
If you have a PC with a mouse, there is no reason to close your FB account because of this. I specifically stopped using FB with my cell phone as my fix to the problem. It doesn't happen much with mouse type systems, but it definitely can with touch screen systems.
Hail! I once had FB. App in my phone. It kept over heating my phone. I had to remove FB. App out of my phone! And what?
No! Over Heating Anymore.
I dont have a smartphone or tablet
I do however have fingers
Like I said Ghosts
Your smile has me overheating,
BRB
Yeah your right I probably will of course,
Not everyone is the master of wills you seem to be
Swooning is not very becoming of a lady
How far do u walk the dog. I guess u also get lots of exercise.
R u well? Long time no see on CS? What have u been doing with urself?
Love the pic. It reminds me of Bert from Sesame Street!
You have done what I would have done. Although I would have just ignore the request instead of going to accept them.
Anyways, I feel you had a bit of dejavu there. Your second opinion is a sign that the bridge must never be rebuilt.
Take care my friend.
