The season to be Jolly?

SA is world's worst drunk-driving country

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), South Africa tops the list of drunk-driving related deaths in the world.

According to the latest Global Status report on Road Safety for 2015, 58% of deaths are alcohol related.

According to the report, you have a 26.6% chance of dying in a road crash in Africa. The second most dangerous region on the WHO's list is the Eastern Mediterranean - 19.9% chance of being killed on the road.

One of the reasons I don't drink alcohol is that I have seen and witnessed too many people being burnt alive in their vehicles due to head-on collisions in the Limpopo Province. Mostly due to alcohol.

rolling on the floor laughing Thanks DC. Will do. Enjoy your day.bouquet
Luke

Very sad, very disturbing statistics you've got there sigh
We use to call the N1 between Pretoria and Polokwane die pad van die dood....death road because of all the serious accidents on that road. The west coast is just as bad. All the accidents in St Helena bay were drunk people. 6 deaths in 5 years and there are not even a lot of people living there.
Hi Coch, nice pic. Yes its sad facts.bouquet
Hi Eks, and when the ZCC hits the road over Easter its so much worsehelp bouquet That part of the Eastern Cape is beautiful.

Really sounds as tho you guys had a lot of fun. Thats what the blogs are all about 'having fun'. Anyway thats what I believe.laugh
Shocking stats, such a terrible waste of life. Drunk driving is not clamped down on nearly enough in SA. I remember when I first arrived in Ireland, a sign on the highway stated something like 250 deaths on the road in the past 5 years. I was like....wtf....SA loses more than that on the Easter weekend alone sad flower
Hi Unla, couldn't agree more. It seems the authorities aren't fussed about the deaths as someone told me that schools in all the 9 provinces will be closing for the holidays on the same dates. That could spell chaos. Not sure if its true tho...dunno Keep well.bouquet
Hey Luke...it seems that the authorities don't give a hoot about road deaths ...or any other kind sad flower

Hope you're well too bouquet
