Beginning to feel a tiny bit like Christmas

Incredibly beautiful here today - hard frost overnight rimming everything with white, blue skies, and the temperature climbed to the dizzying heights of 1 degree C.

cold

I went shopping, stocked up, bought cards and a couple of gifts and was bombarded with cheesy carols throughout.

So - decided to push the boat out and actually do some decorating for the season. Let's see, now, where is everything?

santa

I know I had everything in 3 packing cases. Basic, half-hearted, and the whole shebang. I can find the tree. And I can find the whole shebang box. Don't want the whole shebang, but I cannot find the other 2 boxes, which is a pain because one contains the tree decorations.

They might, oh dear, be in the attic. Anyone prepared to pop round and go up into the dark cold scary attic (I will hold the wobbly ladder) and get them for me? batting

I'd ask a neighbour, I would, but it's been a bad year for husbands in our street. Of the 6 houses in my bit, 4 new widows, only one husband has survived. His wife won't allow him to endanger himself. You can sort of see her point.

The few days it's been more like spring then winter.

I haven't decorated in so long I think I've forgotten how.giggle

If I choose to see decorations I can look at my neighbors outdoor stuff.
Steady on Z you have to nip up into the attic first. THEN the introductions to the widows.

They range from 82 (biggest house) to 60 (richest and built on a lavish scale) to 58 (probably the nicest, but still tearful) to 46 (frankly relieved) (4 kids under 18 still at home).

Awww! How Sweet.
Do that also mean that, you are mailing me a gift or some gifts for Christmas?!____hug
CC, I heard that from a friend of mine in Philadelphia as well, he said he and his wife were working in the garden in short sleeves today, unheard of for them at this time of year wow

I haven't bothered in AGES but got invited out over the Christmas weekend and recklessly said no, come to mine. And then thought blast. I'll have to tidy AND decorate. doh
"60 (richest and built on a lavish scale)"

Is that the house or the widow confused help grin
Angel, no sweetie, that was it, your compliment was the gift. gift grin

Anyone else get into the secret santa on the polls? I'm having fun preparing my present!
Z, the widow is built on a lavish scale. The house is fairly conventional but very beautifully maintained, no expense spared.

Better hurry. Larger widows are extremely popular in very cold weather.
Not sure I should be doing too much heavy lifting at my age dancingsanta

You must have a massive loft if it'll take till midnight to search laugh rolling on the floor laughing
Nope, small house, small roof. I got up the ladder, shifted the hatch and a box fell on my head. It didn't contain decorations.

Just woke up a few minutes ago.

Someone or something had slid the hatch back into place.

The tree looks GREAT the way it is. And I may never go upstairs again.

I really need to work on this imagination of mine. And the whole pathological lying bit. rolling on the floor laughing
Truth is got halfway up the ladder, lifted hand to the hatch, ladder wobbled hideously, and I decided the tree looks fine as it is.

The earlier version is more fun though roll eyes
