What's On Your Christmas Dinner Plate?
Luckily, it's a bit slow at work today and was able to plan my Christmas Dinner Menu::moping:Dec 24th :
Will be my favorite Filipino style pork meatloaf..something like this ...I'll be wrapping this one in some yummy buttery pasty:
This goes well with some yummy fried rice with shrimp and veggies:
My Muslim son will not be with us on Dec 24th so I can cook some pork bacon::yay:
It's cold these days, some creamy cheesy potato soup would keep me warmed up...for the long night ahead
It won't be complete without some yummy Filipino Leche Flan...
I will let him handle the drinks and cocktails...
and for the big night Dec 25th:
Won't be complete without some grumpy turkey...I'll be marinating this in soy sauce lemon, honey and spices, hopefully it will look as gorgeous like this:
Yazan is not a big fan of mashed potatoes...but he loves potatoes with lots of cheese and ketchup...will be adding some turkey bacon on this:
I'm a Filipino, spring rolls is one of our weaknesses::laugh:
Turkey will look ugly without some colorful veggies around it...I like my veggies caramelized...something like this:
It will be the first Christmas with my special man...I intend to impress him...by cooking his favorite Crab-Corn Chowder Soup...I hope it will turn out like this or I'll be in a big trouble
Christmas will be wonderfully awesome with lots of yummy sweets...I'm not a fan of very sweet Christmas puddings..here are the two that I want to make...will think of others later
Yazan's weakness:
My Weakness:
My Jerk's weakness:

our menu is mostly based on pork ...so Im guessing its gonna be a quarter of a piglet ,salad, soup ,cake ...and vino( wine) ...
I am going to have free-range duck instead of the traditional turkey this year.
Served with a combination of fresh local veg, roast potatoes, and home-made plum sauce.
I'll make butternut squash soup for starters.
And for dessert, I will have a chocolate 'plum pudding' and also a trifle for those who like it.
I am trying to make it all myself, and as fresh and tasty as possible
we don't care for pork here in the Muslim world but we have some butcher here who makes some "bacon"...and I was able to buy yesterday what I would need for my Christmas menu
Red only? what about Black or White?
or Capon in English (fattened French chicken specially
available for Christmas which can be the size of a small turkey)
with vinegar & garlic & ginger cooked in coconut
milk.
sounds like a lazy Christmas come on...you can do better than that Unless you intend to be all hot and sweaty in the bedroom instead
sounds like a "curry" but yummy
I do love chicken adobo with soy sauce, some vinegar, lots of garlic, onions, ginger, some brown sugar...pepper corns and some Filipino spices...great with plain white rice
Ps.....i also LOVE lemon cheesecake...

CC,
What's your favorite Christmas dinner? I'm sure you used to cook a lot.
Yes CH Years a go I used to cook a lot.
Now I just buy a whole chicken put it in a slow cooker and roast it,with some kind of potato and stuffing and veggies.
Any color will do!! With designs and patterns or whatever!!
If it's just me, I would usually invite friends and have a fun party or join some friend's party...
But this time is special, I'm having someone special...for a change and I'm going to need all my cooking skills and kitchen flares for this
I do love to cook and make mess in the kitchen so I'm going to enjoy every moment of it...
Not too high! You won't be able to see your toes when you look down ...just high and deep enough to make their heads turn and make them wanna arrest you
Our Filipino meatloaf is also nice...with lots of veggies, spicy and sweet...you can use pork, beef or chicken, pineapple slices, sweet peppers, will many colors will be nice, raisin, sausage, boiled eggs, minced carrots, peas, cheese, chopped onions, minced garlic, a little bit of soy sauce, brown sugar, peppers, salts and some flour and eggs to keep them together. Just mix them all together, you can wrap it in a foil and steam it or wrap it with pastry and bake it for about 40 minutes depending on how big it is...best serve with some yummy sauce or bast it from time to time while baking ( mixture of ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, mustard, pepper. salt)
here you go....
I will be working but the hospital will be supplying us with turkey dinner...not the most tastiest but with some hot sauce...and a little salt and pepper...it will be palatable...lol...
We're in peak summer here, so average temps are 30deg C.
I stroll around only in skimpy shorts...
Probably the usual...
Pick up a bottle of Mad Dog.
Maybe Wild Irish Rose...you know...special occasion & all.
Stop by the Mission...see what kinda soup they're putting out.
You know. The usual.
Cranberry sauce is kind of a must for the turkey.
Brussels sprouts or asparagus or spinach for my greens.
What is a turkey without some Pepperidge Farm (lazy bachelor these days) instant stuffing?
Peach pie, or a lemon meringue pie. ( will pass on the pumpkin pie.
Fruit cake of course. There is a Trappist Monastery down the road a few miles from me where all year round the monks make fruit cakes and jams to sell. It is always good.
Rolls, we need to add some buttered rolls to this as an appetizer.
Egg Nog. What's Christmas without egg nog? A little nutmeg sprinkled on top too for the visual..
What time should we all be there?
I wish I can cook like in ur LISTS.
I am not good in cooking but I can do. I am enthusiastic when eating
On 24th, I dont know what to prepare but my friend from overseas asking me to pick her at the airport. Its her bday too 24th bday. Will dine outside with my family.
Not sure what is going to be on my Christmas dinner plate. I suspect lasagna...because my mother said she was making that. lol
It looks like you have a 10 course meal planned with dessert at the end. :)
