Christmas and what it means to the Christian world
As of 2010, there is about 2.5 billion Christians and by far the world's largest religion, according to Wiki. So for those who are celebrating this season of the Lord's birth, may we all have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.I hope that with this site being international and shared by all kinds of people with all kinds of religion, this post is not offensive to anyone.
Being Christian myself and having been taught with all the good and positive teachings of life, it is very good to know that our world truly needs all of us to be embracing peace and tolerance to one another.
Regardless of religion, we must be kind, generous and just to one another.
Christmas is a season of giving, family celebrations and most of all season to be happy and be loving to one another.
Thank you all.
I have just finished my shopping yesterday and what a world of commercialism we have made this world with this occasion. But it is good for business and it sure make a lot of people to be happy. I am not saying that you have to have a gift to celebrate this season, but if we do it on birthdays and wedding, and or without any special occasion give gifts, why not this season.
Thank you everyone.
NOTE: I was taught many a times, that forgiving is a very good positive attribute this season affords us. And I do seek forgiveness for anyone whom I have offended in my whole life. Thank you.
Pay a visit to the needy (I volunteered for the St. Vincent De Paul) and very touching to be around people who are truly in need of help.

all the way.... I'm reading THE CASE OF FAITH BY Lee
Strobel, a former atheist, he holds a Master of Studies in Law
degree from Yale Law School. I think it's an interesting book
for doubters, seekers, skeptics, unbelievers and
Christians.
Thank you JJ and my you have a very joyful season.
May you enjoy much your time of this season..
My thinking is that, with our without religion, we all give these gestures to everyone and while I specifically posted this in celebration of my traditions as most of the 2.5 billion Christians, is because of my memories with my childhood. It was so glorious and spiritual at the same time.
Thank you again Joy.
Very nice blog! You are exactly right in what you say here!
Christ came to seek and save the lost!
May everyone have a peaceful and joyful Christmas!
It is so nice to see you are happy Jim. I hope everyone is.
Stay well and happy
I am glad to see you here. Have you gone to Cali. yet?
Stay in California for a while..
Merry Christmas Jim and say hello to S.
On your disdain why God let it happen, I think it is because there will be a time for us to understand why Crown. But like you sometimes, my faith falters and find someone to blame on all the cruelties of this world and much easier to question Him.
Ah Christmas - the magic time of the eyar, unfortunately not white this time. All about family, gifts, being together....and food, too much of it....but on 24th being on a diet will be cancelled...till 6 Jan
To tell you the truth, December is a bit overwhelming, but I keep on listening to a local rock radio station - the only station playing no Christmas songs ...it will be sweeter to sing them on Christmas
Take care dear lady.
2,5 billion has some affinity with christianity would be more accurate.
I suspect that if a country is deemed by history to be 'Christian' then all it's population are assumed to be so. Therefore in the UK the population is around 65 million all of whom are assumed Christian. Conveniently ignoring the fact that a very small proportion of the population attends church or is practising in any way. Also ignoring the fact that a fair proportion of the 65m is tied to other faiths anyway.
The never ending arrogance of religion.
for instance Sweden with 67percent rate. of which 2 percent attend church.
And another study said it was the least religious country worldwide with only 22percent religious people.
Belgium 64 percent. while practising is 3 percent. agnosticts + atheist are about 40-44 percent and we got a increasing 5 percent muslims(mostly youth before choice). Even i'm included in the 2.5billion
and 4 percent for north korea seems optimistic
source other study gallop
where sweden has 54percent irreligious people.
and belgium 35 percent.
Quite frankly, it is not even the number that counts but who are the ones that truly practice the faith. The fundamental teachings of being good, kind and generous. Just and be charitable. At least to me are the most that I live by or try to live by.
In my church, it is not normally crowded, only on special occasion like Easter and Christmas.
But when 9/11 happened, everyday, the church was so full.
