He was 69 years old. The cause of death was cancer. I just learned tonight he had been battling it for over a year.
I am now wondering if my suddenly thinking of him and how I hadn't seen anything new from him was pure coincidence or had I somehow felt a tragic change in the Universe.
He was a very talented musician as well as a great voice. In my younger days I had been to some of his concerts and had several of his albums. His Ziggy Stardust was a classic of my youth. He was also one of those rare musicians who could walk into a music store and very well play any kind of instrument they may have in stock, from sitar to violin, from piano to guitar.

He was an original. He could play anything and always reinvented himself. A 4 decade career. What a rock icon he was. He'll be missed. So many favourite songs. Thanks Ziggy Stardust. RIP
