What A Grand Mess!
This weekend was an abortion. Almost everything went wrong. Luckily only one event placed me at some disadvantage.First I walked out of my volunteer job. For three days running I had no pupils after the break. Monday and Tuesday I had two and four respectively. Those kids only come to school for the plate of food and then they disappear. Of course I was not going to sit around wasting my time. I went home early on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Friday the principal said he found something to keep me busy before I disappear again. I told him that I don’t need to be kept busy. I volunteered to teach illiterate street children, not to arrange books in the library. I got into my car and drove off. Anyway, I should not have volunteered in the first place.
On Saturday a bride did not show up for a wedding. I cannot say that I’m sorry. Apparently some of the guests were not informed and were milling around at the venue for an hour or two before going home. The only trouble is that the husband-to-be blames me for the fiasco and I was not even there. He now threatens to sue his would-be bride and I for breach of promise and I don’t even know where she finds herself at the present. Good luck to him.
Then things settled and we had a great Sunday Braai, but last night somebody spoke about ‘biltong’. Google it! I got a craving for it and drove 7 km to find a café selling decent biltong. Coming back, about 1 km from home, a drunken duck drove into the back of my car. Thankfully, not too much damage. Mostly plastic trimmings, the left-hand tail light (big bucks) and the boot won’t close.
Spent two hours in the charge office trying to make a statement and all I got for my trouble was about 250 gm of biltong at ZAR300.00 per kg. At least that was passable.
Wishing you all great week.

Mine really paled in comparison
But I'm glad Bea stood him up. It would not have worked in any way.
It sounds like another day in Africa....
Biltong.... what we do for it...
I hope this week goes better for you...
Did you share the Biltong with the bride?
I'll sell my soul for it. And chocolates.
Hmm, she could have done it differently, but he contributed in a big way to his own demise with funny demands as the wedding date closed in.
Nope I plead insanity. I had no contact with her for a few weeks and I really don't know where she is at the moment.
I don't think so. She phoned me on Friday night, Saturday, and twice yesterday (Sunday) but gave no indication that she read the blog. I'm very much in the dark but I understand that she told her sister-in-law on Friday morning that she is going to pull out of it.
Speaking for myself, if there were any signs of incompatibility I would've reconsidered. Marriage is a big, life-changing decision which involves more than one person.
I try to live by the following motto... Aikona hesitate, beta wena losityt!
You Be Very Careful! In the coming days, weeks, months and years.
Because That Guy Is Going To Beat Your _ss.
Hey! Do you get paid for volunteering?
As I said, everybody suspects me and as such nobody tells me anything. And she is not very forthcoming when she calls me. From what I can gather from her is that his latest demand was that her 20 year-old daughter, a full time student, is to stay on in their flat when when she (Bea) move into his place. This may not be 100% correct, but it involves the daughter and this is the only way I can put the pieces together.
He's welcome to try but I don't think it will get to that. He's been following me around all of Saturday, probably thinking that I will lead him to her. He was sitting in his car about a 100 meters down the road. I called him and told him to come and knock on my door so we can talk the thing out but he never came. At least he's off my back since then because he left shortly after that.
This is something that will never work, if you ask a parent to decide / separate between them and their kids, any decent parent will tell you to go to hell.
What If He Comes Back For You?!!
OMG!
I though it was Biff , but you're right. You were the first to mention it. No problem though. The insurance will pay. I hope they move their backsides, so the car can go in. I hate driving with a rattling boot-lid, tied with a piece of string.
Hail Yeah!----
She sounds ok when she calls. Only pity is that she does not say where she is and she switches her phone off so I cannot call her.
But as I say, my assessment of the situation may be incorrect. That is only my make on it.
Not talking about Bea's situation as I don't know her and her situation, just in general - marriage is a big, life-changing decision that should be considered carefully by everyone involved.
Sounds like a mess and people hurt.
Last night when that fella hit me from behind while cruising at the speed limit, the first thing that came to my mind was that it was him. He must have traveled at quite a speed. You should see the skid marks as he braked before hitting me. Fortunately he has slowed quite a lot before impact. It actually just felt like a nudge. I was surprised to see the damage, esp to the other car.
I khow Biltong from my childhood. In Austria we have dried meat which is similar, but not with that particular taste. I eat less meat all in all now. Have become more the veggie type.
Support her and share the
lovebiltongYep, and she will have to face the music that she composed. They will have to work out the next step between themselves.
I assume you meant to type relieved.
I ate half of it last night and I finished the rest sitting here. Not the best biltong, but as I said, it was passable.
The biltong is finished. She is like a sister to me and I'll give her all the support she needs, but right now I don't want her anywhere near me. I don't want to give anybody any ammunition. Nobody out here believes me as it is.
Well, I ate it. At R300 per kg, I certainly won't give it to the dogs.
I don't eat other meat
Don't worry about people not believing you. Those who know you won't need an explanation and those who don't, won't believe you anyway. Knowing the truth amidst consumptions and rumours, is always a good feeling. On the other hand, jumping to conclusions, is never a good thing. Enjoy the fact that you know the truth.
Most wonderful things are preceded by chaos. Hopefully, things will settle soon...
Good luck
yes, though not quite chicken. They dry ostrich meat to make biltong. I don't like it. I personally prefer beef or kudu biltong.
Then they dry snoek (a larger fish) which I eat readily and we dry smaller fish like mullets. We call it bokkems. I love them.thumbsup:
They make shark biltong which I don't like either.
Ok, In that case I'm glad that you are released. I hope your parole conditions are not too bad.No problem.
Remember, this was an all-night cafè. The are very expensive. It is somewhat cheaper at the butchers.
I hope you're right. That bozo just called me again to know where she is. His attitude changed. He was almost pleading. I told him the truth. I don't know. Also told him again to come see me. He said he'll come tonight. I hope he comes. It is time we talk this thing out like adults.
But it still remains expensive. I don't allow the luxury of it every day. It is only when I come back from a hunting trip that I have plenty of (wet) biltong. That will probably only be in June or July again.
