Good news about chocolate !

There are potentially many health benefits to eating organic DARK chocolate
(conversely, milk chocolate is higher in fat & sugar).

Of course, it tastes good. thumbs up
But, in moderation it may also be good for you in other ways.
For instance, it appears to have cardiovascular benefits,
improving blood flow and sometimes lowering blood pressure,
while increasing 'good cholesterol' (HDL) and lowering 'bad cholesterol' (LDL)
and protecting the LDL from being oxidized.

It also is a rich source of natural antioxidants, as well as a dietary source of fiber,
iron, magnesium, copper, manganese, potassium, zinc and selenium.

Also, when eaten, it can protect your skin from damage caused by sunlight.
If you eat dark chocolate before sunbathing it can decrease your chances of
sun burning.

The only bad thing about chocolate is the sugar!!

Remember the containers with whole chocolate in it by Hershy's. It was kinda bitter BUT still good for you!!
True indeed, Jim. Just don't let bow wow near any of it. Aa.
@ JimNastics - wave ... To obtain the best health benifit from dark chocolate it needs to be 70% or more cocoa, the more cocoa, the less sugar content.

Two small square is the max foe any one day.....conversing

.... grin cheers
Ha - very true. That is stated in the article linked. But, good to bring it up here. thumbs up

Al - very good point. thumbs up That is true and not brought up in the linked article. Many dogs can get seizures from chocolate.

Ed - it is true that the sugar is not good for us, but that is not the only bad part. It also contains some caffeine and some saturated fat. Plus, it costs money. laugh
I do not remember the Hershey's you talk about. But, perhaps that was very pure chocolate without sugar.
Hmmmm, chocolate... smitten

It's a treat, I eat chocolate with no added sugar. It's still yummy.

Raw cacao powder is a superfood and I make my own hot chocolate drink (with stevia). conversing
KN - it's a good time of year for that. thumbs up
