Should a couple's knowledge be in balance for a long term relation or marriage?

If, by 'knowledge' you mean 'intelligence'...
Yes.
And intelligence shouldn't be measured by educational degrees.
There are a lot of highly educated fools out there.

Their ability to gain knowledge, yes. Nothing more frustrating than a partner, no matter how attractive, who can't follow the way your mind works, where you have to explain all the time, or who simply isn't interested in the things that interest you.
Not needing to explain most of the things, that was just what I've been thinking.

No, I don't think so. I want to know less.laugh Let her have
the knowledge, and I will correct her when the need arises.grin

But if the operative words are 'long term'...
its like Tater Salad says...'You can't fix stupid!'

'...as the need arises.' giggle

I would imagine so. Interesting discussion stems from both being on the same or close proximity of each other's IQ. But know for fact that it's not always the case. My parents married until they both passed away and my dad was super intelligent while my mother was very modestly educated. Love is not always measured by intelligence in order to last long. But I will never settle with anyone who's boring and can't keep up for st least interesting topics. wave
Points well made, Lindsy. handshake

Might I suggest that, while your mother was 'modestly educated', she was nonetheless intelligent.
If your father recognized that in her, or that they thought along similar lines - degree(s) or no - I'd say he was, indeed, one smart guy. professor applause

You're so right Mic.wave
Compatibility plays a big role in creating balance in most relationship, and that is dependent on acceptance and respect of anyone as they are.

Bottom line is knowing what each person's preferences are.
Hi Alanya,

the knowledge of the woman mostly differs from the knowledge of the man, and then misunderstandings begin, and the door is opened for a further nightmare to arise. Trust in each other, I think, is better than relating everything to knowledge only. cool wine
