Phobias or simple fears?

Like most kids, I climbed trees, but unlike most normal folks, the habit stuck, principally for setting antennas up for a dying hobby. Thanks Internet. Never caused problems. In my early 30's, I think first looking over the edge of out Grand Canyon prior to a week of desert backpacking, I noticed that queasy feeling for the first time. Slight dizziness, mild nausea, and anxiety. Got worse over the years, and now if I climb a big tree, as is part of all our simian heritage, I can only do so if I don't look down at my kids and dog below, all hoping for that big insurance settlement. So wise and valued CS bloggers, any similar experiences, perhaps with spiders, insects, elevators or snakes? How do you distinguish between a simple natural fear, and a crushing phobia? Anyone recover from such, either naturally or with help. Are there natural fears? Babies, most of them, will reach innocently for snakes and tarantulas. Some ladies seem to avoid zippers on men's pants: could it be due to that big snake hiding inside? D.

CQ calling Mars, come in CQ...
I consider a fear of heights a perfectly normal response to the risk of large amounts of pain & possible death professor I reckon it's the ones without fear that are abnormal laugh
Claustrophobia. Not me - Biff. She first noticed it on a tourist trip down a gold mine, 30 years ago, and she's slowly got worse ever since. Nowadays she can't get on a plane without Valium or that moment when the doors are sealed she turns into a gibbering wreck. Friends don't laugh at friends but phobias are funny to others, not so funny when they get a grip.

Most people don't like to talk about them, some avoid them so successfully they don't even know they have them. handshake
It depends from person to person, how they react to certain things that may cause a phobia in others. I think it is the way we grew up, whether we have phobias or not. Some things r just natural to some. It also depends on the amount of guts u have naturally whether u will do something dangerous or not (e.g. some cultures walk over burning coals, and r not hurt at all). It's a state of mind then, not so?
Claustrophobia and arachnophobia. One can commit the perfect murder should they want to get rid of me. Lock me in a room with a spider, I'll be dead... guaranteed hole
Sorry I had to run out to find a new OA3 tube for my National. I was using a Base VR75, but it finally died too.
Aaltar. I tried to email you but...? (probably the age?)dunno
Lo siento mucho, Chica Bonita. Puedo cambiar lo que he escrito de mis preferencias de edades. Doos.
Tube sets do rule, Ken, and who can argue with a National? But having tried to live with rigs needing grid and other voltage adjustments, I went solid state, slob that I am. BTW, I have a vacuum tube story involving curious play between, shall we say, two lovey boys, which appeared in a radiology course. Yep, you really do have to remove all sorts of things from some places. True story.
My biggest fear is to lose one of my kids. When they arent with me I get nervous if I dont hear from them.
Chica bonita hey ? blushing

Change the age preferences? Quieres hablar con una mujer de 99 años?
I suppose we all have some fears as they are needed for survival.

As for phobias they are inborn and most come from past lives.
e.g.I know people who've had a fear of water or drowning all their life and they found out that they had drowned in a past life.

Others might come from a childhood trauma which they forgot. For this a soul retrieval therapy has proved to be very useful and a remedy.
99, eh? A gustos no hay nada escrita, verdad?
Once, trying to help someone in past life regression, via deep hypnotic trance, we found that this one poor lady was, in an earlier life, a very nervous chicken. It was hard to get her out of trance before she pecked and scratched up a few nice pieces of furniture in the office. Powerful stuff, these non traditional therapies, no?
Yes indeed ! doh
Ab. That is hypnotic suggestion. Nobody can hypnotize me or my mom !
Past life regressions have nothing to do with suggestion Snooky.!scold

Everybody can be hypnotised. I've never met someone who couldn't during all my working years.
Well, ladies, it's true that there is a range of ease in helping someone into trance. Fortunately, there are a few simple (mostly physical) manovers to assess each person, beginning with offering the hand on first entering the treatment room. As with acupuncture, kids seem to respond the easiest, and require fewer interventions. Animals, at least higher mammals, are the easiest for both. Oddly, the chicken lady dived into trance like a modern submarine, but didn't want to leave, perhaps sensing we were trying to help with her very specific exaggerated fear of the zippers on men's trousers. What a hoot it was chasing her around the office, while she cackled away, flapping her arms and carrying on. Fortunately, my assistant grew up on a farm, and knew just what to do.
Well Minerva, U have just met 2 virtually. Regression therapy, is used with hyno-suggestion.

So the poor person believes in what u tell them, and u exploit them, suggestion that he is a chicken or pig or horse or tree or lettuce or another human being very important that lived before the Egyptians.

They normally have grave psychological problems after (that I have studied)

The biggest load of bull that people r fed by the likes or u.
Off to visit the twins at university. Later, all you easy to place into trance gorgeous females. Aa.
Ab. I will not waste my time or money on the likes of u, even if u do it for free = Extra hypno-suggestions.
People who go for therapies are people who not only have problems but RECOGNISE they have some and are asking for help.

Why would someone like you want to waste such money and time when you have NO problemsconfused
Altar. Es una perdida de tiempo y energía intentar explicaciones aquí.
Minerva. The guy thought he was a chicken in a previous life time. Logically, that is not possible, even after me dappling in Buddhism.

The only way he can think that is if the information was planted in his head.

With previous lifetimes, they will only be either humans, animal or plant. Mind u I can't see u talking to a horse or lettuce. They don't cross exist in previous lifetimes.

Now that's the basics (Simple)
Minerva. What problems can they possibly perceive to have, to come to people like u. Hypnosis is very dangerous, and I for one will not trust u with it. Mind u I don't trust anyone that uses hypnosis.
Muchacha. Estoy bromeando mucho aqui en CS. Ud. lo sabe, no? ;-)
Altar. I thought you were being serious.confused

It is not wise tobelittle your beliefs. scold
Well, much was serious, but life allows for a little humor, no?
I went from not minding flying in the slightest, to being a quivering wreck when even thinking about it, not to mind doing it.

Eventually, I decided, because I live on an island, I had two choices. Either stay on it forever aka not fly, or get myself out of my phobia.

I chose the latter.
Phobia or simple fear? haha
