Washing clothes

Like most of the men and some of the women here I wear clothes till they have too many holes. Usually they have done a good job of capturing body odor by then. So I throw them away and a lot of the odor goes with them. Then I buy new clothes. You can tell the poorer members of CS because they have photos posted without any clothes on. A true mark of poverty and one wonders what kind of person would be attracted to someone so poor they can not afford clothing. Yesterday at the store I heard a rumor.I was thinking some of the poorer men and women here on CS may be interested in this.

A few months ago someone got caught in a rain storm and after his or her clothes dried he realized they didn't stink as much. He experimented and discovered that if he/she intentionally wet them in a bucket, not only does the smell go down, but the water changes color too becoming a dark brown or gray in color. Sometimes with repeated soakings the clothing almost looked new again.

According to the sales clerk I was talking to the store owners are very angry at this person because now, not only are they not giving up money to buy new clothing as often, but some of their friends have started to do the same thing. The practice is called washing. There is worry that if their washing fad catches on it would be a disaster for the clothing industry with many jobs lost as a direct result. There have even been rumours of some kind of washing robot mechanism someone built to automate the clothing wash process.

I present this of mixed mind. The idea of washing seems controversial I know, and I would certainly not want to cause the loss of jobs in such an important industry as the textile industry. However for those men and women on CS who lack enough income to wear clothing or even to buy clothing, perhaps this previously secret process called washing may offer some relief and at least present an illusion that you have income. The next time one of your neighbors throws clothes away because they ranked enough to be discarded, why not rescue and pull them from the trash pile and submit them to a few cycles of the 'wash' process and don them? Then you can proudly post photos of yourself with actual clothing on.

Just imagine how much better life would become for you, if instead of being discouraged by your obvious poverty, a potential suitor saw a profile picture of you in actual clothing and began writing you?

Just a thought to pass the morning away...

Sounds like a lot of work to me doh you probably know the old saying but if you throw your socks against a wall & they don't stick they're good for at least another week professor grin
A reasonable good quality pair of socks here is around €1, on the other hand a box of washing powder can be as much as €25 doh you don't need to be a mathematician to see where this is heading laugh rolling on the floor laughing
Absolutely so. professor
They might easier find each other that way Ken. laugh

I can wear clothes for many months, as I have a floor to ceiling 6 door wardrobe against one wall and a double wardrobe on the other wall, in my bedroom. And no shortage of clothes, as it is one of my past times to shop for new underclothes, clothes and shoes.

But I'm definitely not washing all of them after 6 months, that's why I do washing in a washing machine every week-end. Yes and I do it, not the maid.
That washing machine thing is not good at all. Since I took one to the woods my son doesn't want to stand in the rain anymore. Now we must use precious water from the tank as often as once a month to clean the clothes. Think that is ridiculous. Suspect it is because of that machine that some people can't find clothes in the dumpsters.
Biff, even better, donate your clothes to the charity shop & buy them back once they've been washed rolling on the floor laughing grin
Genius!

That's that logical thinking men are so good at, right? rolling on the floor laughing
Biff, think of the benefits, you feel good helping a starving child, the charity worker feels good washing your clothes to help a starving child, the directors of the charity feel good about their million pound salary & the starving child gets a penny in the pound doh very mad
Ken can your visibility t-shirt be seen from spaceconfused

Leony, yes it can. But the orange one is even brighter which is why sometimes at night I simply wear it instead of spending money to turn lights on.
Elegs I never knew that charity shops but called thrift stores here wash clothing when someone donates them.

That would be a first here.giggle

I remember reading about a lady who made her clothing from some kind of tape.
This is how I like to wash my clothes.
